Good walks and cycle routes are available straight from the door. The east coast of Lincolnshire is just an hour away where you can visit the tradition seaside resort of Cleethorpes. Head to the City of Hull and visit the Deep Subsea aquarium, head into Lincoln to see its famous cathedral and castle, or enjoy lunch alongside the boats at the Brayford Waterside. The antiques centres on the old airfield at Hemswell Cliff are popular with collectors and Doncaster, Worksop and Newark hold regular international antique fairs - the show grounds are all within 45 minutes. Market Rasen with its race course is about 15 minutes drive, as is the unspoilt Georgian market town of Louth, still with two busy market days a week. Horncastle is renowned for its antique shops and is only a short drive away. Inland 25 minutes away is the cathedral city of Lincoln, rich in history combined with independent boutique shopping, great arts and culture and many places to eat and drink while exploring. And after your days spent exploring or relaxing you can return to your cottage to relax with food and drink available through a private gate at the end of your garden. Also within half an hour is Market Rasen races, the Lincolnshire Wolds where you can explore the beautiful Wolds villages with many good tea rooms and pubs on route for refreshment. Newark with its marina and show ground is just 45 minutes’ drive. From the door there are many good walks and cycle routes throughout the area. Shop and pub ½ mile.

Whether for business or pleasure this is a great location to explore North East Lincolnshire from. With easy access to the A15, M180 and just 10 mins drive over the Humber Bridge and into East Yorkshire. Barton Upon Humber has many good shops, restaurants and pubs as well as tea rooms and a regular market to enjoy, all of which are within a short walk. For days out head to the coast and the sandy beaches at Cleethorpes or inland to explore the Lincolnshire Wolds, the market town of Brigg or even into the Cities of Lincoln and Hull all with an hours drive. Snow Drop Hut (UK35921) is situated in a lovely, peaceful paddock surrounded by mature trees. This detached shepherd’s hut offers a lovely romantic base ideal for a relaxing break. This features an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner, and a comfortable double bedroom with an en-suite shower room.
Bluebell Wood Yurt (36163) enjoys a wonderful outlook, where you look out of your own private yurt into the Bluebell Wood. The main bedroom area has a dressing table and sofa, and there is a separate kitchen and a shower room which has the benefit of a shower cubicle and a vintage basin.
Each property features a private garden with a decked area and BBQ, where you can sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet, as well as look at the twinkling fairly lights in the trees at night.

These three holiday cottages (UK40757, UK40758 and UK40759) are all part of the former Papist Hall, built in the late 1600’s and one of the oldest buildings in the village of Barrow upon Humber.
The newly renovated cottages offer a delightful mix of period features and modern amenities finished to a high standard. The enclosed gardens feature numerous relaxing seating areas, impressive stonework arches and planters, BBQ and a delightful range of planting featuring mature trees and vibrant flowers. Papist Hall cottages are ideal for a relaxing break or as a touring base for north-east Lincolnshire, the coastline or even heading north into east Yorkshire and Hull, just 25 minutes away. The small village of Barrow upon Humber has range of shops and amenities as well as pubs serving food all within walking distance. Barrow upon Humber’s most famous son is John Harrison, inventor of the marine chronometer which allowed sailors to calculate longitude at sea, greatly improving safety at sea and saving many lives.
Visit Hull, 25 minutes away, the Yorkshire Wolds, 35 minutes, or even travel to Beverley, 30 minutes away, and York, about an hour away. The city of Lincoln is 50 minutes’ drive and is famous for its castle, cathedral, vibrant Brayford Wharf and excellent shopping. Shop, pub, restaurant ½ mile.
Please note that Papist Hall is a 350 year old building and as such is not accessible for those with mobility issues. There are steep steps and some uneven surfaces throughout the buildings and garden.
