Welcome to Thornes Farm Cottage, a delightful home from home nestled on the owners’ farm and set at the foot of the Quantock Hills - a fantastic base to explore the area from! Inside the cottage you have a step up from the hall to the kitchen/dining area, which is very well equipped with everything you will need during your stay. Head through to the living room with its French doors that look out over the garden and fields beyond. There are also comfy sofas which are ideal to snuggle up on after a day out, and the wood burner is perfect for those cooler evenings to relax in front of with a cuppa or something stronger! Step down into the inner hallway, where you will find the bedrooms (two double and one twin) and the shower room that has underfloor heating to save you getting cold feet after your shower!
Outside, from the French doors you have a small sunny seating area, perfect for your morning hit of Vitamin D, in the afternoon the larger enclosed courtyard to the front is the ideal sun trap and a wonderful place to enjoy al fresco dinners or laze the afternoon away with a good book. Set on the owners’ working farm, there is always something going on around you, whether it be the cows coming in, the horses galloping in the fields or the sheep grazing lazily. At certain times of year, the owners would be delighted to show you new-born lambs, calves and even kid goats! Stabling is available at cost by arrangement, which is perfect as the rides around here are endless across the Quantocks. The Coleridge way passes within half a mile.
There is so much to do nearby you will be spoilt for choice! Exmoor and the Brendon Hills are easily reached on a day trip. Pop on the Exmoor coaster, one of the UK’s most spectacular open top bus rides. Explore the beaches of Minehead, Blue Anchor or Doniford Bay, wander around the harbour at Watchet, hunt for fossils at Kilve or jump on the West Somerset Steam railway that chugs merrily along from Bishops Lydeard through the countryside and along the coast to Minehead. Tropiquaria is a great day out for the family or head over to Lynton & Lynmouth to ride the Cliff Railway, the highest and the steepest fully water-powered Victorian railway in the World! We happily welcome two small (or one big), well-behaved dogs to join you on your countryside adventure. Although we kindly ask that your furry friend remains on a lead in the garden, they can freely explore the 5-acres of private woodlands and paddocks which is fully enclosed to roam freely.
Explore the wonders close by, Mendip Springs golf course is next door. Prepare to be awe-inspired as you venture into the world-famous Cheddar Gorge. For a change of scenery, head to the enchanting Chew Valley Lakes, a tranquil haven for nature lovers. If you’re craving adventure and exhilaration, the Mendip Activity Centre is your ultimate destination. Test your skills and push your limits with a range of thrilling activities such as rock climbing, archery, and off-road biking. Within an hour’s drive, you can reach Bristol and Bath. Explore Glastonbury’s Abbey and Tor, Wells’ cathedral and Bishop’s palace, or Cheddar’s famous caves and gorge. All within 30 minutes and promising delightful adventures. Welcome to Bridge Cottage, a beautiful riverside haven set in the hamlet of Henley, close to the town of Langport. As the electric gates open you will get a glimpse into the large private garden, as you drive around the corner Bridge Cottage will be waiting for you. Inside, on the ground floor, you enter into the large boot room and hallway, to the right you will find the spacious and welcoming kitchen/dining room, which is extremely well equipped with all you will need to create everything from the simplest meal to a sumptuous feast. The living room has gorgeous, beamed ceilings, comfy sofas to sink into are centered around the wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings after a day exploring. The cinema room has a large corner sofa, 75” Smart TV and sound system, so close the blinds and snuggle up to watch a blockbuster movie!
Upstairs, each bedroom has been lovingly decorated in its own unique style. The master bedroom has fabulous river views, double bed, dressing area, TV and en-suite shower room. Bedroom two has twin beds, TV and river views. The further three bedrooms are all doubles with a TV in each. The main family bathroom has a dual ended bath, separate shower cubicle and heated towel rail. Outside, the large garden is mainly lawned and has a fabulous patio area with comfortable garden furniture, the ideal spot for al fresco dining. To the rear of the garden, you have the games house, with table tennis and dartboard, many hours will be spent here having friendly (or very competitive) tournaments! There is a further chilled summerhouse that has spectacular views along the river and is the ideal space for some relaxed reading or a drink of your favourite tipple!
You have gated access to the River Cary and during the summer you can take rowing boat for a paddle along the river! There are many walks to be enjoyed directly from Bridge Cottage or head over to Langport, park up the car and walk the Parret Trail along the River Parret and enjoy the local shops and restaurants in Langport. For a dose of ancient history, head to Glastonbury with its Medieval Tor and eclectic mix of shops. For the bargain hunters among you, Clarks Village in Street with its designer outlet is a must visit! The beaches of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare are within an easy drive away for a dose of traditional seaside fare!

These attractive holiday properties lie in the peaceful conservation village of Colerne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The Grade II* listed stable conversion (PFFH) is part of the only longhouse in Wiltshire and dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest house in the village. Beautifully refurbished to offer all modern conveniences, yet retains charm and character. Sympathetically converted, the detached, single-storey barn (PHHF) offers light and airy, contemporary accommodation. Colerne has a good selection of shops and pubs but only a short bus journey, 7 miles, will take you into Bath and Chippenham. Old Farm is a stunning Barn conversion in Southwood, just outside of Glastonbury. Converted to an extremely high standard in 2021, it’s the perfect base from which to explore Somerset. Drive past the orchard and enter through the gates into your private driveway where Old Farm awaits you, through the large Oak front door the bright and airy living space opens in front of you to welcome you in. The central open plan living space has beautiful large doors opening to the garden, a wood burner for those cosy evenings and sumptuous furnishings to allow you to relax into whilst watching TV or chilling with a glass of your favourite tipple. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine as well as everything else you will need to whip up a fantastic dinner or just a simple breakfast. There is also a sitting room with large floor to ceiling windows, you can also sleep up to two extra guests on the sofa bed in here. Off the open plan living area you will find the fabulous bedrooms, both have double beds, hairdryers and en-suite bathrooms. Outside you have your private garden, with outdoor seating area and fantastic views across the fields.
There are fabulous walks in all directions that can be taken from the doorstep, whilst the towns of Glastonbury and Street are just under 15 minutes drive away. Glastonbury, famous for its festival and ancient legends, has a great mix of eclectic shops and larger stores whilst Street is well known for its outlet shopping centre, Clarks Village, where designer bargains are to be found! Within an hour’s drive you have a wealth of National Trust properties to explore as well as fun days out at the likes of Longleat and Haynes Motor Museum.

Located in south Somerset, midway between Taunton and Ilminster, this spacious wing of the owners charming 250 year old farmhouse, offers ideal holiday accommodation. With many beautiful country walks in the area, this period property is ideal for walkers and with a livery yard next door, horse stabling is available (by arrangement). Visit Taunton, the county town of Somerset, historical houses and gardens including Montacute House, Forde Abbey, Hestercombe Gardens and Barrington Court, or take a trip to Minehead on the nostalgic West Somerset Steam Railway. Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills are well worth a visit, as well as a trip to the south to explore the Jurassic Coast between Seaton and Bridport, taking in Lyme Regis. Inland, there is Clarkes Village for some retail therapy, Glastonbury Tor, Somerset Levels, Cheddar Gorge and the spa city of Bath. After spending the day exploring many attractions, return to this delightful property and snuggle up in front of the woodburner, set in a lovely inglenook with bread oven. Beach 20 miles. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need and the island unit opens it up to the rest of the room, so you can socialise while creating your next culinary masterpiece! The large Master bedroom on the ground floor has a stunning four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower, while upstairs the second large bedroom features a wonderful kingsize bespoke bed, beautiful beamed vaulted ceiling and statement lighting.
