Designed to exacting standards, and with a fabulous indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, games room and gymnasium on the doorstep (open all year), these three extremely comfortable adjoining properties enjoy a peaceful courtyard setting on the owners’ non working farm. Footpaths cross the local farmland and the National Forest, and a nature reserve is in 0.75 miles. Lichfield Cathedral, Uttoxeter’s racecourse, cinema and bowling, and Sudbury Hall’s Museum of Childhood are all under 10 miles. Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Tamworth SnowDome, Shugborough Hall and Calke Abbey (NT), and Dovedale in the Peak District National Park are all within 20 miles. Offering beautiful, far reaching countryside views over magnificent Staffordshire countryside, The Cartshed is in a truly rural location on the site of a working farm, near the small hamlet of Slindon. This wonderful barn conversion was completed in 2018, and the property benefits from full underfloor heating and is spread out over one level with just a couple of steps down to three of the four bedrooms. The spacious living/dining room makes a fabulous social area with a wood burner as a focal point - perfect for cosy winter months. During the summer, throw open the bi-folding doors onto the enclosed terrace, sit back and relax, and enjoy the outside space.
Your dogs are a part of your family and we welcome a maximum of 3 dogs into The Cartshed. We cater for the exact number of dogs within your booking, with a dog washing station, treats, dog bowls and towels all provided.
Situated in the middle of England, close to the Staffordshire and Shropshire borders, this area offers unspoilt landscapes, the Peak District National Park and world-class theme parks. The historic town of Eccleshall is around a 10-minute drive, offering many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as an award-winning butcher, and also hosts a farmers’ market every fourth Saturday of the month.
Around 130 public footpaths cover the area, perfect for walking and exploring, and Stoke-on-Trent, Hanley (hosting the Staffordshire Hoard), Stafford and Newcastle-under-Lyme can all be reached in under half an hour. Other places of interest include Trentham Gardens and Monkey Forest and Bridgemere Garden Centre. National Trust properties Shugborough Hall and Weston Park, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and the theme parks of Alton Towers and Drayton Manor are all around an hour away. Rue Hayes Farm Cottage can be found on the friendly owner’s working farm, set amongst the most glorious countryside on the south western edge of the Peak District National Park. Rue Hayes Farm first appeared in historical records in the mid 17th century, and has become a site of historical interest following the recent discovery of a hoard of over 50 Saxon silver half cross coins on the farm. The hoard has been sent to Birmingham Museum so they can assess their historical importance.

Magnificent views surround the property, which was completely renovated in 2018, and guests are welcome to walk in the owner’s woodland grounds. A path runs through the farm which leads to walking and exploring direct from the door. Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, and the Manifold Cycle Track are all within easy reach, together with local cycle hire if you don’t want to bring your own bike. After a day spent in the great outdoors you can come back, sit and relax in the bubbling hot tub in true peaceful surroundings with the most beautiful views (bathrobes are provided for those guests hiring the hot tub).
The small sandstone village of Onecote is about 1½ miles away, whilst the hillside market town of Leek is about 4 miles. Here you will find a charming cobbled market place and a wide selection of shops, restaurants and real ale pubs. Buxton and Ashbourne can both be reached in under half an hour, as can the Three Shires Head, which is the meeting point of the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Chatsworth House, Matlock and Matlock Bath with the famous cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, can all be reached in approximately 45 minutes, as can Trentham Gardens, Monkey Forest, and the National Trust’s Little Moreton Hall. Finally with Alton Towers just 20 minutes away, there really is the option to do as much or as little as you like. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Converted in 2022, these former stables hold a spectacular rural location surrounded by open countryside. Set in around 12 acres of woodland, this is real country living at its best, but with the convenience of local facilities nearby. Both properties have wood burners taking pride of place for cosy winter months, and for the long summer days the gardens are perfect for simply soaking up the peace and quiet. You’ll find a selection of food serving pubs and a local convenience store less than a mile away with the villages of Endon and Stockton Brook easily accessible. Further afield the market town of Leek can be reached in a 15-minute drive and offers a lot including a wealth of high street shops and eateries.

The Caldon canal runs close by so is perfect for waterside walks and cycles with maybe a spot of lunch at one of the canal-side pubs on the way. There’s also Rudyard Lake for some water-based activities surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery to be found in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Thrill-seekers mustn’t miss Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers which is just a 30-minute drive away, and the location is also just a few miles southwest of the magnificent Peak District National Park. The position is excellent for exploring Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire and is also just 40 minutes from the fascinating market town of Ashbourne with its abundance of eateries and renowned antique shops.
