Elmer is an ideal location to explore many of the attractions of the south coast from bustling Brighton 25 miles to the east, to historic Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to the west. In-between there are beautiful places such as Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, quaint Arundel, 5 miles to the north with its castle, river, antique shops, restaurants and famous wetland bird centre, Goodwood and Fontwell race courses and the beautiful South Downs are all close by. A superb detached seaside holiday home, designed by a local resident architect, located on the highly desired and private Elmer Sands estate and only a stone’s throw away from Elmer Beach.
Drift In can accommodate up to twelve guests under the one roof and is dog friendly too. This is a perfect house for a large family get together on the west Sussex coast, the accommodation can be split into two; one side, the larger main house has four bedrooms sleeping up to eight, whist the other side has two bedrooms, sleeping four. There is a single connecting door between the two living rooms and both sides have their own fully equipped kitchens. For any less able bodied guests, there is a level entry access into the house and rear garden and in the annexe, there is a double bedroom on the ground floor with a kingsize bed as well as a ground floor bathroom on the same level for a comfortable stay. Outside to the front there are two driveways, one for either side of the house, providing parking for multiple vehicles as well as side access to the enclosed lawned garden. There are decked areas with seating both to the front and rear of the house for alfresco dining.
This lovely property is situated on the eastern side of Elmer, within a few hundred yards from the beach and foreshore. The beach at Elmer Sands is dog friendly and allows dogs all year. As the tide goes out the beach expands into flat compact sand and you get some interesting rock islands which form part of the local sea defence which is great searching for crabs and shells. It is an excellent family beach for all ages and well suited for beach games, rock pools and at low tide the water is very shallow making ideal conditions for swimming and beginners water sports. At mid to low tide there is a nice easterly walk towards Climping Beach where you can enjoy a cake and ice-cream before heading back home.
The villages of Elmer and Middleton-on-Sea are easily reachable within a short walk of leaving the property with a few pubs, restaurants and village shops to explore. The nearest towns of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton offer even more choices and are only a short drive away. This property really is a perfect base to enjoy a beach holiday but when you want to get out and explore a little further afield, then there are plenty of activities to choose from. Take a trip to Chichester, where you can visit the town’s 12th-century cathedral and admire an area that is steeped in history, pay a visit to Arundel with its historic castle and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Fontwell Park Racecourse and, of course, no visit to West Sussex is complete without frequenting the spectacular Goodwood Estate, home to the world famous Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Goodwood Festival, where you can enjoy an event at the racecourse, or simply just walk round and admire the beautiful estate. You can of course also jump on the train at Bognor Regis station and travel east towards Brighton, which is known for its cosmopolitan feel and has the Royal Pavilion, art galleries, theatres, extensive shopping, pier and marina to explore. Alternatively, head along the rails west to Portsmouth and visit its historic dockyard, admire the Spinnaker Tower, historic ships or enjoy waterside dining and shopping at Gunwharf Quays and finally for an excellent day trip, you could even take a ferry across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. The cathedral city of Chichester is within driving distance and has Roman baths, city wall and old Roman road, with its wide pedestrianised streets it’s perfect for window shopping or watching the world go by from cafés and restaurants. The South Downs also within a 10-minute drive, is a great holiday destination for families and dog owners alike, this lovely stretch of West Sussex coastline. Low tide reveals a long flat expanse of sand and rock pools to explore.

This lovely stretch of Sussex coastline features a long promenade Worthing Pier and WOW (Worthing Observation Wheel) - the new giant big wheel with fantastic long-range views along the Sussex Coast and to the South Downs. At 46 metres high it is the highest observation wheel to be placed in South East England. For other recreation ideas Splashpoint Leisure Centre is a short drive and has fantastic swimming facilities for adults and kids alike. Worthing theatres offer a wide variety of shows at a number of venues including the iconic Pavilion Theatre on the pier. A little further afield there is a huge variety in every direction.

The historic and picturesque town of Arundel is only a few miles to the west and with the quaint streets, Castle Cathedral and Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Nature Reserve you will never be lost for a great day out. Heading east will bring you to the vibrant city of Brighton where the i360 The Lanes and a cornucopia of colour awaits. Driving north leads you straight into the South Downs - head to Cissbury Ring 15 minutes away for great panoramic views over Sussex.
