This stone-built cottage has been beautifully styled throughout with spacious rooms, sumptuous furnishings and eclectic artwork. Enter from the cottage garden at the rear into a beautiful light filled kitchen with a breakfast/dining area with wooden floors. Patio doors offer views across the countryside as you sit at the table. The spacious living area steeped in rustic charm is stunning to step into; with beams, a comfortable sofa and chairs, and an electric wood burner set in a traditional fireplace, making a warm cosy setting for relaxing in. A window seat set in the recess looks out across the front garden. Through from the living room is a traditional styled room with a table for board games, comfortable armchairs and a bookcase laden with books. Upstairs are two spacious and comfortable bedrooms, one has dual aspect views and the most fabulous feature wall decor, the second has an en-suite shower room. There are attractive gardens to the front and the rear, and the rear lawned garden is a perfect spot to sit and take in the surrounding countryside.
The nearby 3000-acre grounds of Broughton Hall Estate are at your disposal, wander down through the estate and admire the imposing stately home of Broughton Hall itself, or spot wildlife and birds as well as quaint bridges across the river. Within the estate are the Land Rover Experience offices from where experience days are offered (by direct arrangement with the owner) for an exhilarating drive along the land rover track and obstacles on the estate. The purpose built Wellbeing Centre, Avalon at Broughton Hall, is right on your doorstep and offers the perfect way to unwind, be present and connect.
The property sits beside the A59 giving easy access to the popular market town of Skipton where all amenities can be found, including a train station, leisure centre and canal boat trips. The area is peppered with gourmet pubs serving local produce as well as hearty, traditional pub food, and there are a wide variety of restaurants and bars in Skipton to choose from should you wish to treat yourself and dine out during your stay.
The Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire have both passed through Skipton and the surrounding countryside in recent years. Why not bring your bike and explore some of the routes for yourself? The quaint village of Grassington with its individual shops and tea rooms is not to be missed, or visit Bolton Abbey for a relaxing afternoon and woodland walks by the River Wharfe. This imposing Edwardian country house stands in its own garden overlooking sheep grazing the common at Goathland, whilst the views of moors and forest may be enjoyed from the west-facing terrace. Set in the village of Goathland, perhaps better known as Aidensfield from the TV series Heartbeat, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is in an excellent area for walking – the North Yorks Moors steam railway stops at the village station on its journey from Pickering to Grosmont. Horse riding can also be found nearby.
Whitby being only 9 miles away is a picturesque seaport famous for its Captain Cook connections, where the cobbled streets and yards stand in the shadow of the Abbey, overlooking the harbour. The 3 miles of sandy beaches lead to the pretty coastal village of Sandsend. Robin Hood’s Bay (renowned as a bygone smugglers’ haunt), Runswick Bay and Staithes are all worth a visit. Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. Cherry Garth Cottages are located in the centre of Thornton le Dale, ’Yorkshire’s little gem’. Cherry Laurel has been named after the cherry trees which border the garden. The cottage has been built from beautiful traditional Yorkshire stone, and is tucked away in the grounds of the owner’s home Cherry Garth. It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will find a lovely welcome pack with tea and coffee. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the beck which runs alongside the cottage.

The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.

Nestled close to the North Yorkshire Moors, Helmsley is well placed to enjoy all that Yorkshire has to offer including the famous steam train which departs from Pickering, 13 miles away, and transports visitors through stunning scenery to the ancient fishing port of Whitby. Flamingo Land and ‘Go Ape’ in Dalby Forest appeal to all ages and the spectacular coastline is within an hour’s drive. Days out can be enjoyed at the great houses of Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall. The vibrant, medieval city of York, 24 miles, is steeped in history and brimming with attractions, including the iconic Minster and the National Railway Museum. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Dating back to 1890, this semi-detached holiday cottage is situated down a quiet lane in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire. A short stroll from the centre, it is ideal for exploring the Moors and the Heritage coastline, as well as the city of York. Nearby are Kirkby Moorside, Helmsley, and Pickering where you can board a steam train and take a journey through countryside. Visit Dalby Forest for cycling, with tracks to suit all ages. Scarborough, 20 miles, has beaches. Whitby is 18 miles. The cottage is in the most perfect location as there is so much within walking distance. Within a 5-minute walk and within the beautiful village there is a variety of local shops, tea rooms, ice cream and cake shops, pubs serving food, as well as a fish and chips and pizza takeaway. In addition there are beautiful walks to be taken from the door, an attractive duck pond and the stream down the road from the cottage, and for younger guests a play park within a few minutes’ walk.

Situated in the popular seaside resort of Scarborough, close to the shops and restaurants and just under a mile from the beach, this terraced townhouse is perfect for a family holiday. The owners have catered for the children with a games room that has lots of games plus a pool table. Mill View House is in a quiet area of the town. From the house you can walk to either bay, north or south, both having long sandy beaches making them ideal for families. The North Bay is the quieter of the two and the South Bay has all that you would expect of a traditional seaside resort with donkeys, amusements and children’s rides. You can walk on the promenade the full length of both bays passing the castle perched up on the hillside. If you prefer to take a ride there’s an open top double decker bus that runs along the seafront.
Scarborough has many attractions with the open air theatre, the Scarborough Spa and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. On your walk down to the beach you pass Peasholm Park with it’s beautiful gardens and large lake, a fabulous place to take the kids, there’s boats and pedalos for them to play on. This is also where they do the famous re-enactment of a naval warfare miniature sea battle. The house is situated less than two minutes walk from the train station where you can go by train to York, a medieval city famous for its Minster. There’s so much to do in Scarborough which is why it’s popular both in the summer and winter months. An ideal spot for that family holiday.
Scarborough is just one of many family resorts down the east coast. Further down the coast and just a short drive away is Filey, Flamborough Head and of course the Victorian resort of Bridlington. There’s some fantastic walks along the cliff tops as this is part of the Cleveland Way so very popular amongst walkers. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a few minutes drive away where you can see puffins, gannets and seals in their natural habitat. This is one of the most visited bird sanctuary in the UK.

You can also enjoy donkey rides or just take a stroll with an ice cream whilst enjoying fantastic views out to sea and across to the abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Head into the town centre where you will find plenty of quaint shops selling all sorts of curiosities from Whitby Jet jewellery to Gothic clothing. Whitby has a hugely popular food and drink scene with many bistros and café bars, as well as traditional fish and chip shops and tea rooms. There are many pubs and bars that offer a warm welcome to dogs and humans alike, as well as the many festivals and events that take place in the town such as the bi-annual Goth Weekender, Steam Punk weekends and the famous folk week.

Venture just a little further out of town for a game of golf or explore some of the hidden gems to be found all along the coast. Take a visit to Robin Hoods Bay, which can be accessed along the Cinder track and Cleveland Way, or any number of bays and coves along this magnificent coastline including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn. For a complete contrast, you can head inland and take in the breathtaking scenery of the North York Moors National Park. For a different kind of day you can take a steam train from Whitby into Goathland, also known as Aidensfield in the popular Heartbeat TV series. With so much to see and do on your doorstep you may need more than one visit.
