    The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

    19 miles to the south, Scarborough remains a quintessential and much loved seaside resort, with its two sandy beaches, castle, lovely Peasholm Park, Sea Life Sanctuary, Open Air Theatre and Alpamare Water Park and Wellness Spa - all well worth a visit. There are many pretty fishing villages along the coast where fishermen can be seen working such as Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, along Yorkshire’s wonderful heritage coast.
    Children will love visiting the arcades, as well as spending days at the beach fossil hunting and exploring the rock pools. In the neighbouring village of Ruswarp there is a great indoor play area for little ones, with a café, opposite the rowing boat hire and miniature railway. Plus, a little further away you have Flamingo Land theme park and zoo which is ideal for a big day out they will love.

The beach to the west of the town leads for 2 miles to the lovely resort of Sandsend. Runswick Bay and Staithes are further north, and to the south there is Robin Hood’s Bay and the large seaside resort of Scarborough with its long promenade running through both bays.
    The North York Moors steam railway runs from Whitby down to Pickering, stopping at Goathland (Heartbeat Country). For children and families nearby there is Flamingo land, Alpamare Waterpark and Go Ape ziplining at Dalby Forest all within an hour drive. Beach 2 miles.
