Set in a secluded position high in the Mendips above Cheddar Gorge and just 3 miles from Cheddar, these attractive barn conversions Ramscliff Cottage (ref EGA) and Mendip (ref UKC2794) make an excellent base for walkers and nature lovers. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is rich in bird and wildlife, including badgers and deer which visit the farm. Animals on the farm include pygmy goats, alpacas and guinea pigs. Nature trails criss-cross the surrounding hills, easily accessible from the farm, and the whole area is one of immense historical and geological interest.

Among the many places of interest to visit are Wells Cathedral in England’s smallest city, Glastonbury Tor, the caves at Cheddar and Wookey, Longleat House and Safari Park and several National Trust properties including Montacute House and Stourhead, and King John’s Hunting Lodge in pretty Axbridge. Excellent beaches and seaside entertainment can be enjoyed at Weston Super Mare and Brean, and there are many charming villages to be explored, along with the rugged landscape of Exmoor National Park, famous for the native ponies. The Georgian Heritage city of Bath, 50 minutes away, is easily reached and has beautiful architecture, Roman Baths, an abbey and a fine selection of shops and restaurants. Several golf clubs are available locally together with horse riding, coarse fishing and trout fishing at Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes. Very good local inns and places to eat. Beach 17 miles. This Grade II listed character holiday cottage dates back over 300 years. Surrounded by peaceful, unspoilt countryside it nestles in the foothills of the Brendon Hills, on the eastern edge of Exmoor. The large living room has a sit-in inglenook fireplace with original bread oven and a host of oak beams. The sandy beach at Blue Anchor Bay is 9 miles. Fishing on Clatworthy Reservoir, 3 miles. Quantock Hills to the east, Minehead and Dunster a short drive. Attached to the caretaker’s cottage. Shops and pub 4 miles.

Old Orchard Barn - The Annexe is a beautiful converted property in the heart of Buckland St Mary, a gorgeous Somerset village, yet within easy access to the A303. Inside it has been lovingly converted as a relaxing holiday retreat for two to feature a cosy living area with electric wood burner and Smart TV, although with the large windows gazing out over the rolling fields you may never need to switch it on! The living room is open plan with the kitchen although this is up a step, giving it a slightly separate feel. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, and there is a wonderful dining area making the most of the views. Into the bedroom you have an oak kingsize bed with bamboo mattress, Egyptian cotton bedding and an oak dressing table, as well as a hanging area for your clothes, off the bedroom there is a fabulously colourful en-suite with shower cubicle. Outside there is a private garden area with seating and views, perfect for a glass of wine as the sun goes down, there is also a private outdoor swimming pool available from 10am until 4pm (May-Sep only) and shared use of the tennis court - bring your own tennis rackets and tennis shoes (white soles only).
The property is located within the Blackdown Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the Somerset, Devon and Dorset border. There are some beautiful walks in the area, and a Covid-19 secure country public house less than ½ mile away, as well as an Italian restaurant ½ mile in the other direction.
It is set between the market town of Chard, with its shops and museums, and the larger county town of Taunton with its bustling shopping centre, restaurants, bars and entertainment facilities. There are many tourist attractions to visit, from woodland walks to National Trust estates such as Barrington Court and Montacute House. The Quantocks and Exmoor National Park are within easy driving, and for a trip back in time, travel from Taunton along the West Somerset Steam Railway to Minehead.
Further afield you have the Jurassic Coast beaches of Lyme Regis and West Bay, as well as some of Somerset’s great places to visit. Guests can drive to Glastonbury Tor for an exhilarating walk to the top with some magnificent views of Somerset, perhaps calling in at The Clarkes Factory Village and Wells Cathedral and Palace, or head into the other direction into Devon and visit the city of Exeter and have lunch on the quays! Set in the Mendips, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walks for miles can be enjoyed from the doorstep and the area is perfect for mountain biking, climbing, horse riding or fishing. Just a short walk away is the beautiful Blagdon Lake with its miles of walks, stroll down and explore the Yeo Valley Organic Dairy with its Organic Garden. The nearby city of Wells has a fabulous local market and beautiful cathedral to visit as well as independent and larger shops to enjoy. Head into Cheddar and sample some local cheese, walk the reservoir loop or take a drive through the gorge!
For some ancient Roman architecture, head over to Bath and sample the delights that can be found there. If a day by the sea is what you fancy, the traditional seaside town of Weston-super-Mare is always a winner with its grand pier and donkey rides! Longleat is well worth a visit, and the city of Bristol, with the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge, is within easy reach.
Ideal for bird watching, walking and cycling. A short walk to St. Andrews Church and short drive to Coombe Lodge if attending a wedding. Within easy car journey for both the Bristol balloon Fiesta and Bristol Harbour Festival.

This fabulous, detached, holiday property is situated a mile from the village of Wedmore, with its abundance of shops, cafés and restaurants. The Lodge is a great base for exploring this picturesque part of the country. Close by is Wells, with its famous cathedral and Bishops Palace, the mystical town of Glastonbury and of course not forgetting Cheddar Gorge and its caves. It is also only an hours drive to Bath where you can visit the Roman baths and therma spa. A bespoke fitted kitchen with a breakfast area and all you need to prepare your meals after a day’s exploring! Off the kitchen you have a sunny study come garden room which opens up to the lovely tiered garden, a real sun-trap and has the bonus of a summerhouse at the top, the perfect spot to sit for breakfast or while you’re enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple while the sun sets on another day. Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with a king-size bed, a single bedroom and the bathroom with a beautiful claw-footed roll-top bath which has a shower over, the perfect place to unwind!
From the doorstep you can walk into the town centre or up the hill to the park and beyond across the fields. The town centre of Castle Cary is a mix of independent shops and larger stores and has multiple food outlets as well as pubs and restaurants. The magnificent Haynes Motor Museum is just 4 miles away, showcasing everything from a mini to a Formula 1 car, making a great day out for everyone!
Further afield are the larger towns of Yeovil, Glastonbury and Shaftesbury can be reached within 30 minutes and are packed with entertainment venues, shops, eateries. Glastonbury in particular is famous for its spiritual side, a walk up the Tor is a must to experience the stunning views for miles around. National Trust properties are plentiful in this area with Montacute House and Lytes Cary Manor under half an hour’s drive away.

Sweet Briar Cottage is situated in the small Village of Holford, a lovely picturesque village on the edge of the Quantocks, about 14 miles from Bridgwater. This semi-detached holiday cottage is in the perfect location for all year round breaks - having a woodburner in the living room makes it perfect for cosy evenings in. There are many walks from the cottage, and from the bridge, guests can see two streams converging, one of which has flowed from Holford Combe and the other from Hodders Combe. It was in this glen that the Huguenots settled and began their silk weaving factory. Holford Glen was also used during the filming of the film ’Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves’ starring Kevin Costner. The Quantock Hills (AONB) are an area of wilderness and tranquillity. Panoramic views lead you through coast, heath and combe. Explore and you will find rocky Jurassic coastline, exposed heathland summits, deep wooded combes, undulating farmland and attractive villages all within this protected landscape. The cottage is a short drive (or a fabulous 2½ mile walk) from the village of Nether Stowey, with its range of shops and pubs. Places of interest include Coleridge Cottage and Dunster Castle (both NT), the Somerset Levels, Glastonbury Tor, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and Taunton. Beach 2 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Hollies Cottage is a charming, cosy, stone holiday cottage full of period features including exposed beams, a woodburner and spiral staircase. Set in a quiet area within the village of Draycott. Only 1½ miles from Cheddar, famed for its gorge and caves, as well as numerous pubs and restaurants. Suitable for either active breaks with walking on the Mendip Hills and the wildlife of the Somerset Levels, or just to relax in comfort. Close by is the cathedral city of Wells 5½ miles, Weston-super-Mare 15 miles; Glastonbury 11 miles, Bath and Bristol less than 50 minutes away. Shop and pub 300 yards.

Set in the heart of Watchet, you have a myriad of wonderful shops and restaurants on your doorstep to explore. Why not leave the car behind and step back in time aboard the West Somerset Steam Railway, which chugs merrily along the West Somerset Coastline and through the countryside, linking Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor is within easy reach by car, with its winding roads and plentiful tea rooms to explore, as well as seeing the famous Exmoor ponies in their natural habitat. The seaside town of Minehead is close by and offers a more traditional seaside fare of arcades, shops and restaurants.

The nearby ancient Medieval towns of Wells and Glastonbury are packed full of eclectic charm, and Glastonbury Tor is well worth the walk up to marvel in the stunning Somerset views. The Piggery is also ideally located near to local wedding venues such as Priston Mill or Wick Farm. For some retail therapy, head over to Street where the designer Clarks Village factory outlet is located and bag yourself a bargain!
