Dog-friendly Somerset

Set right opposite the beach in the heart of the seaside town of Minehead we have Seagate Cottage, built in the 17th century this delightful topsy turvy thatched cottage has views over the bay from the lounge and first floor bedroom. On the ground floor you will find the well equipped kitchen diner with electric cooker, fridge freezer and ample dining space, the twin bedroom is on this floor as well as the bathroom which has bath with shower over, heated towel rail and the washer/dryer. Up the stairs to the first floor you will find the living room with TV, DVD player, DAB radio and CD player, open fire and sea views, the large double bedroom also has sea views and there is a separate toilet as well.
Pets are more than welcome here and are treated like family with their own dog bowls and throws for them to make their stay extra comfy, there is a green area across the road and the beach opposite allows dogs from September to May plus lots of other year round dog friendly beaches nearby.
The traditional seaside resort of Minehead has a great mix of small independent stores as well as larger chain stores plus plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms all within a short walking distance from Seagate Cottage. For a great day out hop onto the West Somerset Steam Railway just around the corner and ride the rails through Somerset villages. Wonderful walks surround you, head up North Hill or over to Alcombe, Exmoor has miles and miles of walks as well suitable for all abilities! The wonderful medieval village of Dunster with its fabulous castle, now owned by the national trust is just a couple of miles away. A short drive brings you to the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway while Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area.

Built in 2023, Brook Cottage is a very well presented detached cottage set within the owners’ gated grounds. The bright and airy cottage has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a Smart TV, dining table and in the kitchen area, everything you’ll need for your stay. There’s an adjacent utility area with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a separate toilet. On the first floor you’ll find the two bedrooms, one with zip and link super kingsize bed which can be twin beds on request, and the second with a kingsize bed. A shower rooom completes the first floor. Outside and to the rear is a large private patio garden which is fully enclosed, perfect for dogs to run around freely in (but please keep them on leads when not in this area). There are lovely borders with bespoke wooden seating and a luxurious private hot tub.
Within a 10-minute drive you have Blue Anchor beach, a wonderful dog friendly beach with café, the town of Watchet with its harbour and local shops and pubs, or the seaside resort of Minehead which has many shops, restaurants and a beach. The village of Washford is under a mile away with its lovely local Inn. Whilst in Minehead, why not jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway which weaves its way along the north Somerset coast through to the countryside town of Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor National Park, with its dark star gazing skies, is within easy reach being under 2 miles away, and has many quaint hamlets and villages to explore, miles of moors, superb scenery and the famous wild Exmoor ponies. On the ground floor, you will find a comfortable living area where you can sit back, snuggle by the telly and warm your toes in front of the wood burner in the cooler months, a playroom/snug room where you will find another Smart TV, board games and toys to keep the children entertained, a downstairs toilet and the traditional yet modern kitchen diner with Range cooker and bi-fold doors leading to the beautiful enclosed garden.
The south-facing garden has a hand-built Portuguese BBQ and is ideal for sitting out with the family. Free on-street parking is available.
Upstairs, you will find five beautiful bedrooms (Four generous king size and one twin room with 1-2 single beds) and two recently renovated bathrooms, with a beautiful tub and rain shower.
The home caters perfectly for families and young children, with a travel cot, highchair, and plastic dishes/cutlery available, and bespoke wooden stair gates throughout. There is also a functional utility area found on the third floor.
Guests wishing to work remotely during their stay will benefit from two working stations, one with a sea view and the other cleverly built into the garden view bedroom.

Clevedon is conveniently situated just off the motorway, 10 minutes from the busier Weston-Super-Mare (also accessible via cycle path) and just 25 minutes from the vibrant city of Bristol.
