Wells, the smallest city in England yet with one of its finest cathedrals, is just 1 mile distant, and Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury’s famous Tor, Stourhead gardens (NT) and Street’s much visited Clarks Village Shopping Outlet are all a short drive – the city of Bath is a little further. This farmhouse annex property is a great base for exploring the wonderful Somerset countryside, set in the rural village of Weare, just outside the historic market town of Axbridge. It is perfect for families or couples, and the owner lives on-site. The property offers a kitchen/dining room with feature inglenook fireplace and French doors leading onto an enclosed spacious garden. There is a bedroom downstairs with twin beds. On the first floor is the living room with a large viewing window, here you can just sit back, relax and look out onto the breathtaking views over the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge. Also on the first floor is the master bedroom.
This is a great property for visiting the many attractions Somerset has to offer, including Glastonbury, with its tor and abbey, and Wells, with its cathedral and The Bishop’s Palace. You can also visit the wonder of Cheddar Gorge and its caves, and not forgetting Wookey Hole. Bath is a short drive away with its famous abbey, Roman Baths and Thermae Spa, along with gorgeous Georgian architecture. If you are looking to explore slightly further afield, Longleat, with its safari park, Stonehenge and Avebury are all within a 1.5 hour car journey - and are always a great day out. Welcome to Little Folly, a delightful cottage in the heart of Exmoor’s national park. Refurbished in late 2021, Little Folly provides the perfect escape for two couples or a family looking to get away from it all and head back to nature for a while. On the ground floor you have an open plan lounge/diner/kitchen area with a stunning bay window enjoying amazing views over the garden to the hills beyond. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare a meal that you can enjoy at the table, while the lounge area has comfortable seating to relax after a day on the moors. The ground floor bedroom has a double bed and views over the garden. Head up four steps to the fabulous bathroom which has a P-shaped bath with shower over and heated towel rail. On this level you will also find the main bedroom featuring a super kingsize zip and link bed (which can be made into two singles on request).

Outside you have plenty of parking, and your garden is the perfect place to relax and let your family unwind, and from the doorstep there are miles of walks over the moor. Just a mile down the hill is the village of Winsford with its local pub, or hop in the car and explore the myriad of quaint rural villages dotted around, with tea rooms and country inns that have some of the best views! The beaches of Minehead, Dunster and Blue Anchor are within easy reach and always make for a fun day out. Jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug merrily through the beautiful Somerset countryside. Dulverton is just a 10 minute drive with its shops and supermarket.

The owners have received an Exmoor National Park Dark Sky Friendly business award. This is very exciting as Astro tourism is a growing component of the tourist industry. Our towns and cities create so much light pollution that most people in the UK cannot appreciate the moon, let alone the stars and planets. Exmoor, along with other remote areas of the UK run events to promote the night sky. The garden is ideal for viewing the night sky and there are two sets of Astro binoculars for guests to enjoy the starry sky. Blankets, baked potatoes and a hot drink can also be provided on request.

Step inside where everything is on the ground floor, catering to all ages and abilities. The warm and bright living room has lovely comfortable sofas and a gas fire, perfect for those cooler evenings, however in the summer throw open the French doors and let the warm breeze flow in. The kitchen is open-plan with the dining area, with the former being extremely well equipped, while the bright and welcoming dining area is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal at any time of the day! Off the hallway, you will find the bedrooms, both finished to a high standard with cream and oak furniture, as well as a TV in each. The large shower room has a fantastic walk-in shower with both a large rainfall shower head and a handheld head for ease. Underfloor heating features throughout, making Whitney Cottage the perfect choice for your next break at any time of the year! A dog is welcome to come and stay ,but please be aware dogs must not be left unattended at any time in the cottage.
Just a 10-minute walk away you have the local bar and restaurant, which serves a range of local food and drink, or hop in the car to another pub, just a 5-minute drive, which serves gorgeous wood-fired pizzas and an amazing Sunday lunch. A 7-minute drive is another pub which serves a wonderful mix of traditional English and Caribbean foods. You will be spoilt for choice with things to do while staying at Whitney Cottage, with miles of walks from your doorstep exploring Somerset’s countryside. Venture further afield to one of the many National Trust properties nearby such as Montacute House and Barrington Court. The Jurassic Coast and Lyme Regis can be reached in around 30 minutes’, walk along the promenade, grab an ice cream and sunbathe, or head to Charmouth for some fossil hunting in the famous Jurassic Cliffs!

Mudford is a lovely village set on the outskirts of the popular town of Yeovil, with a fabulous farm shop nearby offering delicious local produce and a 17th century inn serving wonderful meals are both within a 10-minute walk. Further afield, Yeovil has a great selection of shops, bars, and restaurants to explore and enjoy. The National Trust properties of Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull Garden are within a 15-minute drive. Ham Hill County Park is wonderful for walks, offers spectacular views from the monument and has a fabulous country pub service local food, cider and ales. Langport is within easy reach with its River Parrett trail or head to Glastonbury for some ancient medieval history and eclectic shops.
