Bring your bucket and spade as the glorious sandy beach at Morfa Dyffryn is just a mile down the road and offers superb views over to the Rhinog Mountains. For the more adventurous, Zip World and Bounce Below at Blaenau Ffestiniog are a thrill seekers delight, whilst the famous Ffestiniog Railway and mighty Harlech Castle are also well worth a visit. From Barmouth, why not hire a bike and cycle across Barmouth Bridge and along the Mawddach Trail to Penmaenpool and Dolgellau? Beach 1 mile. Shops 300 yards, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

There are several sandy beaches within two miles and good facilities for sailing, fishing, pony trekking and playing golf. At just 2 miles distance Bala offers a range of activities. The National White Water Centre is close by, where you can experience the thrill of rafting or canyoning, the shores of Bala Lake, with plenty of scenic walks, also a popular area for avid kayakers and paddle boarders. Take a trip on a steam train on the narrow-gauge railway along the lake shore between Bala and Llanuwchllyn, have a day at the beach over on the coast at Barmouth, or try some Welsh foodie delights at the award-winning Rhug Estate Organic Farm Shop at Corwen. Further afield in Blaenau Ffestiniog is the incredible Bounce Below where the whole family can try bouncing on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world where you can fly high over the quarries whilst enjoying the spectacular view.
You may wish to visit the local Castles includinf Harlech, Cardochan and Dolwyddelan, or Roman fort at Caer Gai. The Beautiful Caerau Ichaf Gardens are very close to Bala and the famous Erddig Gardens is only a short drive away. You could also take a trip on the steam railway at Fairbourne Miniature Railway, or Festiniog originally The Gravity Railway and Snowdon Mountain Railway. One of the most popular tourist attractions in North Wales is Portmeirion, the Italianate village is also worth a visit. Abandoned mines can be found nearby in Carros, Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog or Sygun Copper Mind in Beddgelert.

Here you’re really in the heart of all North Wales has to offer, with lakes, coastal paths, Snowdonia and popular tourist towns all within easy reach. Dinas Dinlle beach is in walking distance from the lodge, with wonderful views across the bay to the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. Caernarfon Castle, an imposing UNESCO World Heritage site, is under 8 miles and where Prince Charles took his investiture. Venture just a little further and you have Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway. There’s something for all ages in this diverse region and it would certainly be a break to remember. Beach ½ mile.

Cosy, comfortable and furnished to a very good standard, this cottage has been and fastidiously maintained, and the twin bedroom has views over open farmland to Hell’s Mouth. The cottage’s enclosed lawned garden overlooks the beautiful rolling hillsides and well-tended fields, making the perfect setting for just relaxing in or enjoying an evening barbecue.
Y Stabal is set on a carefully tended, large, working stock farm, together with the owner’s imposing 18th-century farmhouse. A gentle 3½-mile stroll leads to Llangian, one of the prettiest award winning villages on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. Abersoch is a vibrant seaside village has lots of sheltered, sunny niches along its beautiful sandy beach popular with watersports enthusiasts. The annual jazz festival is held in June and the Wakeboarding Festival in July. There are many shops and visitor attractions open all year (with good sales in the shops after the summer) making it a lovely place to holiday in at any time.

A very good local pub is just a mile away from the cottage on the main road. To the west, the Llyn Peninsula offers many coves, harbours and vast stretches of safe, sandy beaches. Black Rock sands is the closest. The coast path is 84 miles of diverse landscapes including open countryside, wild heath and coastal features.

A North Wales holiday cottage almost straight from a children’s story book and set in a magical location surrounded by woodland. A real welcome awaits with fresh homemade Welsh cakes, cupcakes and a bottle of wine. Bird boxes and feeders around the cottage ensure birdsong throughout the year; nuthatches, nesting blue tits and even woodpeckers can be seen feeding. There are beach toys in the shed for long summer days and sledges for winter fun. Guests will love feeding the ducks and chickens in the owners’ garden nearby.

Fairbourne and Barmouth are a pleasant drive away, with miles of golden sands at Barmouth and a smaller sandy beach at Fairbourne. Drive down to the lovely seaside resort of Aberdovey with candy-coloured houses, a long uncrowded beach and seaside atmosphere.
