Situated in the popular seaside resort of Scarborough, close to the shops and restaurants and just under a mile from the beach, this terraced townhouse is perfect for a family holiday. The owners have catered for the children with a games room that has lots of games plus a pool table. Mill View House is in a quiet area of the town. From the house you can walk to either bay, north or south, both having long sandy beaches making them ideal for families. The North Bay is the quieter of the two and the South Bay has all that you would expect of a traditional seaside resort with donkeys, amusements and children’s rides. You can walk on the promenade the full length of both bays passing the castle perched up on the hillside. If you prefer to take a ride there’s an open top double decker bus that runs along the seafront.
Scarborough has many attractions with the open air theatre, the Scarborough Spa and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. On your walk down to the beach you pass Peasholm Park with it’s beautiful gardens and large lake, a fabulous place to take the kids, there’s boats and pedalos for them to play on. This is also where they do the famous re-enactment of a naval warfare miniature sea battle. The house is situated less than two minutes walk from the train station where you can go by train to York, a medieval city famous for its Minster. There’s so much to do in Scarborough which is why it’s popular both in the summer and winter months. An ideal spot for that family holiday.
Scarborough is just one of many family resorts down the east coast. Further down the coast and just a short drive away is Filey, Flamborough Head and of course the Victorian resort of Bridlington. There’s some fantastic walks along the cliff tops as this is part of the Cleveland Way so very popular amongst walkers. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a few minutes drive away where you can see puffins, gannets and seals in their natural habitat. This is one of the most visited bird sanctuary in the UK.

Nestling in the stunning scenery of Goyt Valley this wing of the owner’s farmhouse retains many of its original features and beams. This spacious holiday accommodation, situated on a working farm, is in an ideal place to explore this lovely area, and is also in a conservation area, with walks from the doorstep. It is 1 mile from Whaley Bridge where you can stroll along the tow path to the Buxworth Basin or take a narrow boat trip. Whaley Bridge also has a train station to help explore if you want to leave the car behind. You could spend a day in Manchester and take in a show for the evening. 6½ miles away is the famous spa town of Buxton which also boasts an opera house and Pavilion Gardens. Book a day in the Dome Spa to relax or travel a little further and visit Chatsworth House and its amazing gardens and estate. Medieval Haddon Hall and the old market town of Bakewell is a must and you can travel through Winnets Pass to the charming village of Castleton with its famous caves where the Blue John stone is mined. Take a tour by boat through these caves and learn about the history of the people and how they mined them. Matlock Bath and Alton Towers make great days out for families. There are plenty of activities to enjoy locally including inhouse clay pigeon shooting lessons (at cost, by arrangement with owner) and there is also golf and horse riding located within 5 miles of the property. The coast, with its sandy beaches, is only 12 miles and visitors can experience the delights of the attractive coastal villages. For the children, a day out at BeWILDerwood in Horning or Wroxham Barns are a short drive away. Alternatively spend a day in the city of Norwich, 8 miles, with its cathedral, museums, theatres and a vast array of cafes and shops. Blakeney Quay is a short walk past the village shop (with bacon for the ever-obliging crabs). From here is access to the marsh or up to the village. Blakeney is a bird-watcher’s paradise; the coastal path runs in front of the house, there are seals at Blakeney Point, and it is surrounded by beautiful countryside walks. The historic little town of Holt is close by and offers a range of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés and weekly markets. Within a few minutes’ drive is Holt Lowes, an area renowned for wildlife, designated as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation. Also worth a visit is Holt Country Park with its wealth of bird life, as well as other RSPB reserves. The region has several stately homes such as NT Blickling and Felbrigg Halls, Holkham Hall and Houghton Hall. Other interesting days out include visits to Sheringham Park, and Walsingham Shrine and Priory ruins. Sheringham offers golf and is home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway, Splash aqua pool, a promenade and a pier. Within easy driving distance is Norwich with its excellent shopping, restaurants, cathedral, theatre, pubs, cinema and markets. Wells-next-the-Sea is 5 miles and Holkham’s vast sandy beach is just 8 miles. Windsurfing, dinghy launching, sailing and boat trips are all available locally. Shops 100 yards.
