With a Smart TV in every bedroom and living room, family and friends can relax with a lovely morning lie-in before heading out on one of the many walks from the front door.
The children’s playpark is 30 yards away, and Kielder Castle is a further 250 yards. Walks into the forest or around the lake, as well as going under Kielder Viaduct, which is very close to the house. Many guests never move their cars. Kielder nestles in the Gold-Tier International Dark Sky National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; a perfect location for star gazers and photographers, and of course idyllic for walkers and cyclists.
The house is perfect for visiting Kielder Observatory and is a 5-minute drive to the car park (bookings required) for an extra chance to spot the Northern Lights in the winter months. It is a great base for relaxing, no matter what time of year, and would suit both couples and families. Its also ideal for those seeking a peaceful and tranquil break who enjoy walking or cycling. Children will love the Winter Wonderland in December.
Nearby, Leaplish Waterside Park has a hop on/hop off ferry, which takes you all around the water to admire the stunning scenery with a visitor centre, bird of prey centre and bar with outdoor picnic area, as well as a swimming pool and spa, ideal for a few hours of relaxation. The historic town of Hexham with its pretty Abbey and cobbled streets is only 25 miles away. Head north over the border into Scotland and discover some of the Scottish towns and villages. Nearby, Bellingham has a post office and shops, as well as a golf course, and is only a few miles. Come back after your day out and relax in the tiered landscaped garden backing onto the forest trees. Local pub only a 5-minute walk.

Nearby is the friendly village and sandy beach of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a popular little seaside village with a choice of cafés and pubs, and a wonderful flat promenade to stroll along. Only 8 miles away is Morpeth, a pretty market town with some excellent shops and restaurants, popular on a weekend with locals. Amble only 4 miles, with a busy Sunday market and nice places to eat, and Alnwick is a 14-mile drive with the majestic castle featured in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes. Over to the west, discover Hadrian’s Wall, or maybe have a day trip into the Northumberland National Park, with miles of forest around the huge reservoir. There are so many places to visit for all age groups whilst staying at Low Chibburn Farm Cottage, you really will be spoilt for choice and be sure of a friendly ’Geordie’ welcome wherever you visit.

Resting on the edge of Northumberland’s stunning coast, in the charming village of Alnmouth, is the beautiful Garden House. This unique property is reverse level, upstairs on the first floor you will discover the living space, the social hub of the home, a contemporary, family bathroom where you can take a leisurely soak or opt for an invigorating shower, the kitchen/diner which is a large social room, perfect for hosting hearty dinners and get togethers, with French doors leading you straight out to the rear garden, a sun trap and little nestled den making al-fresco dining a must during the summer months! As the evening draws to a close, retire to the master bedroom on the ground floor where you can freshen up with in the en-suite shower room. Choose between a further king room on the lower ground floor or a ¾ double on the second floor. All rooms with good storage, homely and comfortable ensuring a great night’s sleep. Begin your Northumberland adventure in Alnmouth Village; situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants as well as an excellent golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore. The area also poses some great opportunities for sailing enthusiasts!
A short drive brings you to the historic market town of Alnwick, which can also be walked or cycled, and boasts the most beautiful scenic routes. There’s a lot to enjoy in Alnwick, why not start at the famous Barter Books, then make your way to the enchanting Alnwick Castle to start your own Harry Potter adventure. Further North brings you to Seahouses, Northumberland’s most popular fishing village. Don’t miss your chance to hop on a boat and head to the Farne Island’s and capture some unforgettable memories.

Crescent by the Sea is within easy walking distance of the beach and long promenade which stretches along the seafront in this friendly seaside village. With four bedrooms and a lovely heated conservatory overlooking the enclosed lawned garden, this is a wonderful holiday home to spend time in with your family, friends or for couples to relax and unwind in.

Visitors to this comfortable holiday home will have a private parking space where you can leave the car and hop on a bus at the nearby bus stop to reach some lovely towns and villages. Newbiggin still has a few fishing boats and the lifeboat station is one of the oldest in England. The beach sweeps around the bay with the Church Point at one end with a lovely cliff top walk looking over the sea. The promenade is almost a mile long, a nice flat stroll in the evening, or in the mornings to blow away the cobwebs. Set in the centre of the promenade is a wonderful Italian ice cream parlour popular with locals and visitors, set on the piazza where you may be lucky to see live music on the bandstand in the summer. The village has all you need with an excellent bakery, takeaways, pubs, fruit shop, fish and chips and a good size supermarket.
Nearby Cresswell and Drurudge Bay has miles of unspoilt coast, then head north onto the Heritage Coast and discover the castles and villages that make Northumberland special. Day trips can be taken in all directions; a popular attraction is Hadrian’s Wall over to the west, stop off at a Roman fort en route. Holy Island is north and home to the Lindisfarne Gospels, reached by a causeway (check the tides). Steeped in history, it shouldn’t be missed whilst in the area. The pretty market town of Morpeth is only 8 miles with lots of excellent restaurants, bars and shops with an Edwardian shopping arcade. Head south to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay and walk along the vast promenade with plenty to see and do. Children may enjoy the Sea Life Centre. Newbiggin-by-the-Ssea is popular with surfers and paddle boarders and there is great sea fishing and rock pooling whilst admiring the only east coast offshore sculpture, ‘The Couple’, designed by Sean Henry.

Conveniently close to the A697, with access to explore this beautiful and historic part of North Northumberland. The market town of Alnwick with its castle, Alnwick Gardens, and a wide array of independent shops, galleries and eateries is within just 8 miles. The picture-postcard town of Rothbury sitting at the foot of the Simonside and Lordenshaw Hills, with Cragside Hall on its outskirts, 9 miles away. Wooler is a welcoming market town 11 miles from the property, nestled at the foot of the Cheviot Hills and offering a good selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding countryside with its many challenging or less strenuous walks or trails close by, and any stargazers will delight in the dark sky offerings on the doorstep. The Northumberland Heritage Coast is less than 15 miles east and there are no less than 10 castles to explore within 25 miles, with many Iron Age discoveries to be had very close to the property. Shawdon Hill Cottage is an excellent base to uncover the beauty of North Northumberland and has easy access to the Scottish Borders or even Edinburgh which is only 74 miles away. Beach 15 miles.
