There are also days out at the Lakeside Aquarium, traditional steam train experience at Lakeside and Haverthwaite, and the popular South Lakeland Zoo which are also just a short drive away.

    Beatrix Potter fans will find plenty to interest them at her home at Far Sawrey, near Hawkshead and at The World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness-on-Windermere, whilst art and poetry lovers will adore the delightful Dove Cottage at Grasmere, which was home to William Wordsworth, and the beautiful house and gardens of Brantwood at Coniston, which was home to John Ruskin. After a busy day splashing on the water in boats, hiking over the fells or cycling through Grizedale Forest, snuggle up by the fire and enjoy a cup of cocoa at April Cottage, or head out to the lovely pub close by for a sumptuous meal and drinks on the banks of the River Leven.
