    This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
    Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
    Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

    For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

    Silcrest is an outstanding, semi-detached stone-built cottage in the picturesque village of Baslow. It is wonderfully appointed and many of the original features have been upheld, creating a fantastic feeling throughout, ideal for families and friends to get together and discover all that this amazing area within the tranquil and stunning Derbyshire Dales countryside has to offer. Enter into the welcoming entrance hall with original oak latched door, which leads to an open plan dining\kitchen area with a designer kitchen providing everything that you will need for some delicious home cooking, with shaker-style dining table comfortably seating six. The cosy living room with comfortable sofas and a coal effect fire in an original local stone hearth, makes a lovely place to chill out in the evening. The cottage boasts three bedrooms and a bathroom. The large sunroom to the side of the house is also ideal for the dogs to eat and sleep in. The utility room has a washing machine and extra space for drying wet clothes and outdoor wear, also an ideal area to take off your boots after a long day exploring. Outside and to the front is a pretty country garden, whilst to the rear is a charming enclosed garden which is a fabulous spot for some al fresco dining with French doors opening directly from the kitchen/dining room. Silcrest has really thought of everything, even offering a dog washing station outside for those muddy little paws!
    Nestling on the northern fringe of Chatsworth Park, the attractive village of Baslow is close to some of the Dark Peak’s most dramatic scenery. Baslow lies on the banks of the River Derwent and is home to cafés and restaurants including a Michelin-starred restaurant. It’s conveniently located and is very popular with visitors keen to explore nearby Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail. This is an excellent base for walking and exploring some of the area’s finest countryside, including its famous gritstone edges, such as Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt - all boasting breathtaking views across surrounding hills, valleys and moorland. Close by you will find Bakewell an attractive little market town retaining a delightful rural atmosphere and offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as local farmers’ markets. There is an old 17th century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, and Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, to, mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. Take a trip to Buxton and visit the impressive Edwardian Opera House, designed by Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium. Shop 400 yards, Pub 800 yards and restaurant 50 yards.

Visit Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, and the National Trust’s Hardwick Hall, all of which have starred in the BBC period dramas and historical films. Also, the National Trust properties of Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury Hall with its museum of childhood are all within 10 miles.
    A little further is the National Trust owned Hardwick Hall, and the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate with its annual country fair and Adventure Farm for children. The National Memorial Arboretum and the rich heritage of Burton-on-Trent with its fantastic National Brewery Centre Museum is just down the road. You can also venture into the National Forest with the award-winning Conkers attraction just 10 miles away, plus Castle Donnington racetrack is just 20 minutes’ drive and Alton Towers is 30 minutes’ away. With so much to do and a beautifully designed lodge, what more could you ask for?
