The prosperous market town of Romsey is 7 miles, and being the larger of the two towns, it has all of the above and more. Romsey also has an independent department store, supermarket and a magnificent Norman Abbey dating back to 907AD. Just outside the town and set in extensive parkland is the 18th century mansion of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston and the late Lord Louis Mountbatten. Broadlands is open to the public July and August, as well as hosting a range of shows, concerts and events throughout the year.
