The quayside in Amble has a Sunday weekly market and is home to the Harbour Village where small independent shopping pods sell a range of arts, crafts, accessories, food, and drink. Number Eight has a modern interior with plenty of space for up to six people, and is ideal for families, couples or friends. This terraced property is only a short walk from the working harbour, so you can leave your car behind and walk everywhere - it is especially pleasant on a fine evening to be able to stroll out for a meal or a drink. Set along the harbour are some small restaurants and cafés, some selling seafood and have outdoor seating so you can sit and watch the local boats and activity along the harbour. Sundays are popular with a market in the morning, the locals and visitors enjoy a stroll amongst the stalls with a fresh fish and meat van. A variety of small pods are home to local business offering bespoke goods, lovely to spend a few minutes on a sunny day. Amble has a fine selection of shops, cafés and plenty of amenities right on the doorstep.
If you like a walk, Warkworth is a couple of miles and easily reached via a walk along the estuary. With its castle at the top of the hill and little bespoke shops, lovely tea rooms and friendly pubs, this is a lovely place for a lunch or evening meal. Alnwick is a 15-minute drive and home to the famous castle used for some scenes in ‘Downton Abbey’ TV series and Harry Potter films; the cobbled streets and history add to the atmosphere.

Harbour Lodge is idyllically situated only 100 yards from the harbour of Amble,’known locally as ’the friendliest port’. Nestled at the end of a stone built terrace, Harbour Lodge and its neighbouring property were added in recent years. Poppies Place is a fabulous Scandinavian style log cabin set in a peaceful corner of Felmoor Country Park in Northumberland.
This two-bedroom cabin is built to a high specification, with a lovely terrace to the front to sit, relax and watch the world go by. Inside you have an open plan living area with lovely furnishings, enjoying the views out to the park, two comfortable bedrooms, a king size and a twin, a family bathroom with shower and fully fitted modern kitchen. It’s ideal if you are looking for a great base to explore Northumberland, yet still have lovely surroundings and somewhere to relax after your busy days out. There is plenty to do and see in the area and there is wildlife surrounding the cabin, so it’s a real country retreat.
Nearby is the Northumberland County Zoo at Eshott which is lovely for the children to visit for a few hours. It’s a 2-minute drive from your lodge or a few minutes’ walk. The historic market towns of Morpeth, with its pretty riverside, and Alnwick, with its famous castle used in Harry Potter, are both nearby and have plenty of shops, cafés and pubs. The small village of Felton is only 2 miles away and has a friendly pub with good food, a village shop which incorporates a Post Office with cash back facilities and a highly acclaimed tearoom with a artisan bakery. Golf is available at Burgham Park, only a 2-minute drive, should you fancy a round whilst visiting.
Felmoor Park is close to the A1, ensuring easy access in all directions for exploring Northumberland’s many visitor attractions, towns, villages and beaches.

Outside is where the fun begins – pop on your cozzies and take a dip in the hot tub! A great way for everyone to relax after a day exploring glorious Northumberland. The traditional fishing village of Amble, known locally as ’the friendliest port’ is only 3 miles North where fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island can be arranged. 9 miles south is the ancient market town of Morpeth, where the river Wansbeck winds its way behind the town’s shopping area which offers a wide range of facilities. Alnwick Castle (used as the location of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) has outstanding gardens created by the Duchess of Northumberland, which includes a lovely woodland walk, a grand cascade waterfall and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. There are train links from Morpeth, with trains taking 50 minutes to Edinburgh and just 20 minutes to Newcastle.

The medieval village of Warkworth with its notable castle ruins towering over the main street, can be reached within 10 minutes by car or a pleasant 45-minute walk along the river, and, only a little further, the golden beaches of Alnmouth, Druridge Bay and Bamburgh (to mention a few), welcome those in fancy of an infamous Northumbrian walk. For those with a keen eye for nature, the Hauxley Nature reserve is a simple 3-minute drive. But, if birdwatching is not your forte, the wealth of links golf courses in close proximity to the cottage can satisfy even the keenest of golfer’s pallet. Alongside this, a stone’s throw away is the ancient market town of Alnwick, with its historic sites and stunning Alnwick Gardens coupled with cobbled streets, independent shops, galleries, and excellent eateries. Alnmouth train station is only a 12-minute drive, allowing even more distant corners of the country to be reached very easily from Amble, making it the perfect seaside property to enjoy the immediate surroundings with the option of exploring further afield.
