Cowslip Cottage oozes character and charm. With high beamed ceilings, a wonderful dual aspect wood burner and exposed brick and stone, this is an idyllic retreat for couples or a small family.
Located in the pretty village of Felton, it is just a 7-minute stroll from a beautiful country pub/restaurant and an award-winning café. The cosy ambience in the open aspect living area with exposed stone walls and dropped beams is reflected throughout the cottage from the moment you open the front door. On relaxing evenings in, you can enjoy the fire, set in an open brick feature fireplace from the homely living area or whilst dining in the kitchen area with seating for four. Set all on one level, the cottage has two bright and airy bedrooms, one with a super kingsize zip and link bed, both with luxury mattresses and bedding, perfect for a great night’s sleep. Through the French doors in the living room, you will find a fully enclosed, south facing lawned garden with seating, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring Northumberland, or for enjoying your morning cup of tea. The fully fitted, well-equipped kitchen provides a lovely space should you wish to cook whilst staying here in Cowslip Cottage. A generous welcome hamper is provided to get you started on your first evening after your travels. It includes some food and treats for you, some treats for your dog(s), a starter pack of fuel for the wood burner, some complimentary toiletries and cleaning essentials. A highchair and travel cot are provided and additional baby facilities may be available on request.
Felton is in an ideal location, not too far from the A1, making venturing out very easy in all directions. Head over to the stunning Northumberland Heritage Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of golden beaches, peppered with historic castles, or head west over to Hadrian’s Wall area where you can spend time walking some of the ancient wall. Or perhaps stop off at one of the Roman Forts. Felton is only a few minutes from Alnwick, home still to the Duke of Northumberland who resides in part of the majestic castle. Some scenes from Harry Potter and Downton Abbey were filmed within the castle walls. Discover the cobbled streets, with a great choice of pubs and cafes. Northumberland is reputedly the friendliest county in England where you can be assured of a really warm welcome.

A pleasant conservatory is the ideal place to sit with a drink and admire the views. Outside is a large fully enclosed, lawned garden complete with rattan table and chairs and reclining loungers, a wonderful spot to enjoy an al fresco meal. There is Wi-Fi internet access available for guests to use.
The nearby village of Warkworth, whose skyline is dominated by it’s ancient castle, is a short drive away and has an interesting variety of galleries, shops, authentic pubs, restaurants and cafés, including a French patisserie, and is centrally placed for discovering all of the beaches, islands, castles, historic houses, towns and villages in historic Northumbria. Shilbottle is located midway between the picture perfect coastal village of Alnmouth to the east and the historic market town of Alnwick to the north west, both being a mere 4 miles from your door. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and film location for Harry Potter’s ‘Hogwarts’, is a popular visitor attraction. Another place thats worth a visit is Alnwick Gardens - a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including a grand cascade waterfall and where guests can dine in the restaurant of the largest tree house in Europe. There is a wide array of facilities available within this lovely market town, including independent shops, tea rooms, a cinema/playhouse and one of the largest second-hand book shops in the UK. The pretty seaside village of Alnmouth boasts a vast golden sandy beach and there is a variety of good restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and gift shops. Golf enthusiasts will delight in two courses, one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton enjoying panoramic views. Travel 10 miles north east to the seaside holiday village of Beadnell, popular for watersports enthusiasts.
Visit Seahouses a further 2 miles north and take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins at play (in season). Bamburgh Castle is only an extra 3 miles up this stunning coastline.
