In the heart of Wells, England’s smallest city, this quaint, Grade II listed, terraced cottage with an open fire dates back to 1490, offering a great holiday retreat for a small family. If it’s for strolling into the city centre, with its fine cathedral, moated Bishop’s Palace, charming market, and a wealth of medieval architecture, or for use as a base to explore this wonderful county, Yeomans Cottage is simply ideal. Within easy driving distance are many attractions and places of interest, such as England’s largest gorge Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, the West Somerset Steam Railway, Clarke’s Factory Retail Village and Glastonbury Tor to name but a few. The Roman Spa of Bath is a must, as is Stourhead House and Gardens. Take a walk on the wild side at Longleat House and Safari Park, or head to the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for some splendid walking in a most evocative setting. The Lodge is a great base for exploring this picturesque part of the country. Close by is Wells, with its famous cathedral and Bishops Palace, the mystical town of Glastonbury and of course not forgetting Cheddar Gorge and its caves. It is also only an hours drive to Bath where you can visit the Roman baths and therma spa. On the ground floor you have the light yet cosy living room with its electric wood burner and Smart TV. A bespoke fitted kitchen with a breakfast area and all you need to prepare your meals after a day’s exploring! Off the kitchen you have a sunny study come garden room which opens up to the lovely tiered garden, a real sun-trap and has the bonus of a summerhouse at the top, the perfect spot to sit for breakfast or while you’re enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple while the sun sets on another day. Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with a king-size bed, a single bedroom and the bathroom with a beautiful claw-footed roll-top bath which has a shower over, the perfect place to unwind!
From the doorstep you can walk into the town centre or up the hill to the park and beyond across the fields. The town centre of Castle Cary is a mix of independent shops and larger stores and has multiple food outlets as well as pubs and restaurants. The magnificent Haynes Motor Museum is just 4 miles away, showcasing everything from a mini to a Formula 1 car, making a great day out for everyone!
Further afield are the larger towns of Yeovil, Glastonbury and Shaftesbury can be reached within 30 minutes and are packed with entertainment venues, shops, eateries. Glastonbury in particular is famous for its spiritual side, a walk up the Tor is a must to experience the stunning views for miles around. National Trust properties are plentiful in this area with Montacute House and Lytes Cary Manor under half an hour’s drive away.

Welcome to TH Hollow, a beautiful single storey stable conversion in the heart of the Somerset countryside at the foot of the Quantock Hills. Completed in 2021 and finished to a high standard, there is a central open plan living/dining/kitchen which has a fabulous, vaulted ceiling, comfortable furnishings and comes well-equipped with everything you need for the perfect stay. The kitchen area has electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge while the living area has a 43” Smart TV, perfect for relaxing of an evening.
The bedrooms lead off from the central living area with the master having a king-sized bed and bedroom two having a single bed. The large wet room has non-slip flooring, heated towel rail and shower. From bedroom two you have direct access to the Gym with cross trainer, Sauna and further shower room. Ease of access here has been carefully considered, with ramps leading in from both the front and rear entrances as well as wider doors inside, making this wonderful holiday home suitable for all abilities. To the rear is a large, enclosed courtyard with garden furniture (through access may occasionally be required by the gardener for grounds maintenance) and access from here to the utility area with washing machine and bike store.
TH Hollow also has exclusive use of the owner’s fantastic hot tub, covered heated swimming pool and tennis court at pre-arranged times (9am -1pm unless otherwise agreed with owner). Please note that the swimming pool is available from late-April until Mid-October. Your four-legged family members are welcome here also and have use of the owners fenced dog walking paddock, the perfect spot to soak up the views while your dogs run off some energy!
Set just outside of the village of Bishops Lydeard, with its village pubs and local store as well as access to the brilliant West Somerset Steam Railway, a great way to see not just the countryside but also the coast while you chug merrily along to Minehead. Alight here and spend the day exploring the shops, restaurants and beach. The county town of Taunton is easily reachable within 15 minutes or head over to Exmoor and explore the wonderful villages, walk over the moors and have a cream tea in one of the many tea shops on route. Beach 12 miles.

Set in the heart of Watchet, you have a myriad of wonderful shops and restaurants on your doorstep to explore. Why not leave the car behind and step back in time aboard the West Somerset Steam Railway, which chugs merrily along the West Somerset Coastline and through the countryside, linking Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor is within easy reach by car, with its winding roads and plentiful tea rooms to explore, as well as seeing the famous Exmoor ponies in their natural habitat. The seaside town of Minehead is close by and offers a more traditional seaside fare of arcades, shops and restaurants.
