Be lord or lady of the manor at this charming, historic Grade II* listed house. The Old Manor at Dunster dates back to around 1400, where it is believed the Constable of Dunster Castle lived. Being a house of a certain age, the interior of the manor contains many interesting architectural features including its own chapel. From the impressive great hall with grand open fireplace, to the stunning solar room and charming gardens, complete with orchard, including apples, pear and plums, the house is sure to provide you with a memorable holiday. The spacious living areas are complimented with lovely bedrooms, most benefiting from en-suite facilities. This historical landmark property is ideal for extended families or small groups to gather for a special occasion.

From The Old Manor, you can walk down to the beach, or just up the lane is Dunster Station, which is part of the West Somerset Steam Railway network. The medieval village of Dunster with its impressive castle (National Trust) is a short distance away, as well as a good range of local shops and restaurants. The coastal town of Minehead is nearby, with its promenade, historic harbour and a good range of larger shops and other amenities. Minehead is also the starting point of the South West Coastal Path. The house is ideally suited for a visit to Exmoor National Park where walking is available for all abilities and some stunning views to enjoy across the Bristol Channel. Venture out and visit the village of Porlock Weir, Selworthy and its famous tea room, and the Victorian town of Lynton and Lynmouth. Golf, fishing and horse riding are available locally. Situated in mid Somerset in the village of Baltonsborough, these converted barns (refs UKC2869 and UKC2870) are situated on a working farm, down a no-through road in an area surrounded by open countryside offering far-reaching, panoramic views. These semi-detached barn conversions offer open-plan living spaces with exposed beams, flagstone floors, wood burner and underfloor heating, and there are large glazed doors which open out onto a courtyard. This accommodation is in an area with numerous footpaths and bridleways across open countryside, ideal for walking, cycling and relaxing.

The properties make an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area. Visit Glastonbury Abbey with its ruins, Glastonbury Tor, the village of Street, which is home to a designer shopping outlet, and the cathedral city of Wells with its Bishops Palace and gardens. Bath, a World Heritage Site, has plenty of interesting architecture to explore, as well as a large selection of shops and restaurants. The town of Bruton is also worth a visit, and offers the Hauser and Wirth Gallery and Arts Centre. For the golf enthusiasts, there are courses within easy reach.

Lyme Regis and West Bay, part of the Jurassic Coast, provide coastal walks, fishing, boating and fossil hunting. Wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty of nature reserves nearby, including Avalon Marshes, Ham Wall, Westhay and Shapwich Heath. Other attractions within easy reach include Dunster Castle, Cheddar Gorge, the Mendip Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Haynes Motor Museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and many National Trust properties such as Barrington Court, Lytes Cary, Stourhead, Dyrham Park and Forde Abbey. For cyclists, the properties are based near to the renowned National Cycle Network, and the properties have storage for bikes.

On the outskirts of South Barrow and set in a peaceful scenic country location between Castle Cary and Yeovil, these two single-storey barn conversions, The Cottage (ref 27191) and The Barn (ref UKC2481) make ideal bases from which to explore south and central Somerset. Both are well presented, with lovely country views, and are the perfect places in which to relax and unwind. When choosing The Cottage or The Barn, you will have the luxury of your very own private hot tub, and The Cottage benefits from a cosy wood burner and underfloor heating in the shower room/bathroom.

Whatley Lodge is set in an idyllic location at the bottom of a long gravel private driveway, adjacent to a small river where an abundance of wildlife, including deer and kingfishers, can be seen. This secluded location can be found in a small valley off the B3162 a mile outside Winsham village located near Chard in south Somerset, close to the West Dorset and Devon borders.

Located within an easy driving distance of many great attractions including Forde Abbey and Gardens which make for an interesting visit, or for great family attractions, the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Haynes Motor Museum are certainly to be enjoyed by all. Nearby, enjoy a cream tea at Hornsbury Mill or Barleymows Farm Shop, some Somerset Cider at Dowlish Wake, or simply take in some great country or coastal walking, golf at the nearby Cricket St Thomas Golf Club or visit the nature reserve at Chard Reservoir. Venturing further north is Clarks Village, the factory shopping outlet at Street, Glastonbury Tor, and further on to Cheddar Gorge and Caves.

The famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast is within a 30-minute drive with many picturesque towns and villages, taking in the seaside resorts of Lyme Regis, West Bay, Seaton, and Sidmouth. Beach 15 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub 1 mile in the centre of the village and restaurant 3 miles.

From here, two steps lead down into the wonderful, large, open-plan living space, where gorgeous furnishings and fittings such as olive bucket lightshades set the scene for the stunning views of the Blackdown Hills beyond. Upstairs are two large bedrooms (one has a zip and link twin or super kingsize bed, and the other has a fabulous kingsize designer sleigh bed). An impressive bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle can also be found here. Outside, the huge patio area has multiple seating areas and a stunning 6-8 person hot tub, where you can crack open the bubbly and watch the sun set beyond. There is also access to a lovely lawned area for games.
Set in the lovely village of Bishopswood, with the Somerset Wildlife Trust running adjacent to the property, you are only 5 minutes’ walk from the local pub and surrounded by miles of beautiful walks. The market town of Honiton is just 10 miles away and the beach at Lyme Regis can be reached within a 30-minute drive. Heading north, you will find the county town of Taunton with lots of restaurants, cinema, bowling and shopping, and within an hour’s drive you will find Glastonbury, Street, Minehead and the moors of Exmoor! The Blackdown Hills themselves offer some superb country walking, wildlife, flying for the adventurous at Dunkeswell Airdrome or simply enjoy the local village pubs. Within a 40-minute drive, visit the Jurassic Coast and the seaside town of Lyme Regis, and slightly further afield Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Weston Super Mare, or even Bath with its many restaurants, shops and museums. South Coast Devon beaches are just 18 miles away and the Somerset northern beach 26 miles.

It also offers uninterrupted views across the Bristol Channel as well as its very own private access on to the seven mile stretch of sandy beach which lies at the bottom of the garden. If you would like to bring the dog, you’ll be pleased to hear that Brean beach and many in the area welcome dogs all year round.
On arrival, enter through the private gates and take in the individuality of this unusual coastal beach house, which was fully refurbished in 2018. The entrance hall is the perfect place to leave your coats and shoes behind you as you enter this remarkable property. On your left is the first of the four bedrooms, which offers a double bed and views over the garden and out to sea.
Next door is the second of the four rooms, which is a bunk bedroom ideal for the little ones of the party. Heading down the hall and to your right is the light and airy living area, which offers extensive views to Brean Down and the Bleadon Hills.

The stretch of sand between popular tourist destination Burnham-on-Sea and Brean Down is the second longest in Europe, and includes eight beaches. It is a huge draw for beach lovers, and the many campsites and parks that serve it prove its popularity! There are ’kiss-me-quick’ style family amusement parks offering rides, seaside entertainment and eating places, as well as picturesque National Trust managed coastline at Brean Down offering peace, tranquillity and miles of trails away from the busy seaside resorts of Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-On-Sea.
The local area offers a fun packed holiday for families, as well as the beaches of Burnham, Berrow and Brean offering a seaside sanctuary for those wishing to get away from it all.
The Castle is situated at the end of the strip on the headland known as Brean Down. Here you can experience the 360 degree views over the sea on one side, and across the Somerset Levels on the other where on a clear day you can see both Glastonbury Tor and the Mendip Hills. Wells, famous for its beautiful cathedral, boutique shops and restaurants, is within easy reach. Popular attractions nearby are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and Glastonbury Tor.
