Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens is 6¼ miles away, or visit the market town of Diss, 6 miles, with its supermarkets, shops, cafés, golf course, leisure centre with swimming pool, and direct rail links to London. The cottage, located in a conservation area, is set a short distance off the high street down a quiet lane. Both countryside and the Suffolk coastline are within easy reach. The cottage is a short distance down a quiet lane where horses can often be seen wandering by, and is within walking distance of the high street which is well served with a supermarket, newsagent, hairdressers, beauticians, vet and restaurants. You will also find dog friendly cafes where you can eat inside, outside or take away. They offer ready meals, soups and Friday night stone baked Italian pizza to order for take away. You can walk from the doorstep across the water meadows to the 14th century inn located in the next village.

The surrounding countryside in the Deben Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with picturesque countryside. Woodbridge is a bustling market town with a range of independent shops, fine dining pubs, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a swimming pool, independent cinema, sailing and glorious walks along the River Deben. The train station is in neighbouring Campsea Ashe with rail links to London, the coast and the Broads. The ancient Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo (National Trust), along with The Suffolk Punch Trust is 6 miles away, and the famous seaside resorts of Aldeburgh and Southwold are within easy reach.

A 25-minute drive away is the port of Felixstowe and its beaches, with the passenger foot and bike ferry leaving from Landguard Fort to historic Harwich and Shotley. Suffolk boasts many country estates for visiting including Helmingham Hall, Crows Hall and Heveningham Hall. Nearby is Snape Maltings which is famous for being Benjamin Britten’s concert hall. Tollgate Cottage is a beautiful, detached single level property enviably located on the edge of the Blythburgh Estuary. It is tucked away alongside the A12 which runs the length of the Suffolk Heritage Coast making it the ideal spot for those wishing to explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the village you will find a popular pub and walks including those by the famous church. The legend of the Black Shuck, a ghostly black dog, dates back to 1577 and has been immortalised in songs and folk legend. The church itself is an incredible structure, overlooking the Blyth Valley.

Public transport is superb here and you can get into the ever popular Southwold to enjoy all the quintessential town has to offer with ease. From its independent shops, brightly coloured beach huts and traditional pier, it’s easy to see why this coastal town is a holiday hot spot all year round. Walberswick is also an excellent must see during your visit. Crabbing here is the sport of choice and it will keep kids entertained all day. All you need is a line, a bucket and bacon (we hear smoked bacon is the preferred kind!).

This is also a dog friendly area with endless woodland and beach walks. A trip to Dunwich and the woods are highly recommended. With a much needed pub at the end of the route this is a destination ideal for both summer and winter getaways. Just a 2-minute walk brings you to Rowan Craft Marina, which offers day boat hire, canoeing, fishing and riverside walks along the beautiful southern River Waveney, gateway to the Broads. Walkers will be spoilt for choice here - you can stroll from Beccles to Geldeston Locks, a 7-mile walk along Angles Way, passing Barsham Hall, where the ghost of old Blunderhazard is said to ride his fire-breathing horses to Norwich and back on Christmas Eve! Or the footpath from Beccles to Geldeston village makes for a wonderful riverside walk.
Just 4 miles away is the pretty town of Beccles, made up of small market squares and winding streets, nestled by the River Waveney. You’ll find quirky independent shops, restaurants and cafés, along with festivals and entertainment held throughout the year. Visit nearby Lowestoft for sandy beaches and seaside amusements, or head to Southwold for a traditional seaside resort, just a 20-minute drive away. Why not visit the Cold War Museum at Bentwaters or the Transport Museum at Ipswich; you could also stop for a drink along the waterfront. Pleasure Wood Hills Theme Park is less than an hour away and offers a great day out for all the family. Norwich is only one hour away and is an ideal day out with its array of shops, market stalls and famous cathedral.

The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth offers the Pleasure Beach, beach fronting with amusements, donkey rides, pitch and putt, fun fairs, pier, promenade and much more.
