Nestled within 90 acres of a beautiful part of the South Tyne valley, this cluster of barn conversions have been recently developed to create holiday cottages to a superior standard and can be booked individually or collectively to accommodate extended parties.  Each property has oak flooring; is well equipped with many modern appliances suitable for contemporary living and tastefully furnished throughout.  This complex is in a very private setting and offers the additional bonus of being only 50 yards from the trout and salmon rich South Tyne River, where fishing is available on a pre booked basis for a fee dependent on month of the salmon season.  

This is a Victorian workers cottage with many original features and was built for the farm workers of the Cragside Estate. This is a dog friendly property where two dogs are welcome, although they need to be kept on a lead due being on a working farm, there is an enclosed area where they can be let off and have a good run.
Staying at this cottage is to experience the history first-hand of the Cragside Estate’s Model Farm. Brimming with character on the edge of the National Park, East Cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the many visitor attractions throughout this glorious county. Only two miles from the pretty market town of Rothbury with its own private stretch of salmon and trout fishing (by arrangement and seasonal), East Cottage is set on a small historical site featuring the only agricultural weigh bridge left in the UK today and a Grade II* listed building of Agricultural Importance. The site is linked to the Cragside, Rothbury and Coquetdale Area. The property was built by Lord Armstrong of Cragside in the 1880s as part of his Cragside Estate to show off his model farm.
The cottage boasts eco-friendly features and is powered by a wood burning stove and an Esse Range in the kitchen as well as a traditional electric oven. With a large garden to the side with lovely views, East Cottage is an idyllic location for families or friends. East Cottage is situated on a working rare breed farm with cattle, sheep and goats. The Historic Houses Association is a site of interest, tours available to book.

Ashleigh House is a joyful property resting in the heart of Belford village, set in the stunning surroundings of the Northumberland countryside. With stylish interiors, comfortable and spacious rooms, this cosy abode provides the perfect base for families and their four-legged friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enter the contemporary living room and be greeted by a fabulous wood burner rest your head and snuggle up at the end of an action-packed day and unwind with a movie. Rustle up a hearty meal in the kitchen then enjoy it in the delightful dining area, the perfect place to pop open a bottle of wine and enjoy a good social gathering. Why not head out onto the back terrace? A modern space of decking, slate, stone and lavender, to enjoy some evening sun and sit around the chiminea and enjoy the quiet of the village. Finish off the evening in the second living room, the perfect spot to relax and unwind with a good book. Retire to one of the two bedrooms, designed to give you a restful sleep. The original stairs may be considered steep but not excessively steep. A handrail is provided. There are other small flights of steps between rooms due to the property’s age.
Glorious Belford is often described as ’The Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’ and offers many facilities including shops (newsagents next door), a tearoom, pubs and a golf course with driving range. The picture-postcard, coastal village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden, sandy beach is only 5 miles away. The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf, horse riding and walking, with the challenging route of the St Cuthbert’s Way close by. Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish, without needing a licence, on a picturesque, 4-acre lake.
Belford is located only a mile from the A1, giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick, which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed to the north. The cobbled market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle and offering a wide array of amenities, is close by. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grande Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe.
Take a trip to the vibrant cities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne or Edinburgh, both only an hour’s drive away, or enjoy the journey by train from Berwick or Alnmouth. Ashleigh House provides a comfortable base from which to explore the Northumbrian countryside, along the Northumberland Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Scottish Borders. This unique property is reverse level, upstairs on the first floor you will discover the living space, the social hub of the home, a contemporary, family bathroom where you can take a leisurely soak or opt for an invigorating shower, the kitchen/diner which is a large social room, perfect for hosting hearty dinners and get togethers, with French doors leading you straight out to the rear garden, a sun trap and little nestled den making al-fresco dining a must during the summer months! As the evening draws to a close, retire to the master bedroom on the ground floor where you can freshen up with in the en-suite shower room. Choose between a further king room on the lower ground floor or a ¾ double on the second floor. All rooms with good storage, homely and comfortable ensuring a great night’s sleep. You will also find a convenient utility room on the lower ground floor.
To the front of the property, you can enjoy a decked terrace area and to the rear of the property, you have the patio area with garden furniture. Steps lead you up to the upper level of the garden where there is a small, grassed area and parking. Garden House also has a separate annex attached for larger parties which can be discussed with the owner - please note that the annexe may be occupied by other guests during your stay.

Keen walkers are sure to be impressed by St Cuthberts Way, a 100-kilometre long-distance trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland, named after a 7th-century saint. The nearby town of Wooler is set along the last leg of the journey, so you needn’t traverse the full length. Wooler itself is just under 4 miles away and features a good range of shops, pubs, restuarants and facilities such as a post office and chemist.
The village store and Chatton art gallery compliment the quaint village atmosphere and the village green planted with pretty shrubs in the summer. Discover your inner country-self and try clay pigeon shooting at Fowberry Moor Farm in Wooler, where they also offer wine tasting too! A short 20 minute drive brings you to the popular village of Bamburgh! Bamburgh is a stunningly attractive small village set on the northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast. It is without doubt dominated by its magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around, giving the whole village a somewhat dramatic feeling.
Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses and see the Medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous seabird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. It’s short but tough and boasts some of the best views in the country!

Located close to Northumberland’s dramatic coastline, Curlew Cottage is a pretty mid-terraced house on a working farm, with comfortable accommodation for up to five guests. A gravelled terrace and garden area offer endearing rural views, whilst the front of the house looks out over hills towards the open sea. Furnished to a good standard, Curlew Cottage is also conveniently located for walking, bird-watching, cycling and historic pilgrimages. The characterful village of Belford is nearby boasting all necessary amenities, whilst only a few miles away are the sandy beaches of Budle Bay and Bamburgh.


This stretch of the Northumberland coast is dotted with harbour villages and castle ruins. The most famous of the nearby landmarks is the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, which draws visitors from around the world. Further north, the historic town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed is known as ‘the last town in England’ because of its strategic border position. Alnwick is a short journey southward, famed for its castle and its rich heritage. More recently, the castle has become a must-visit for Potter fans, as it was used as the setting of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Beach 4½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

The Byre is close to Chatton Trout Fishery, a well-stocked 14-acre lake trout fishery which provides an excellent day out for any keen participants!

Chatton is a picturesque village that has a shop and a pub which serves food. Slightly further afield is the friendly small town of Wooler (known locally as Glendale; the inspiration for ‘Postman Pat’s, Greendale’) only 5 miles inland. This is a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, golf, horse riding and walking with the challenging St Cuthbert’s Way close by.

Bamburgh is renowned for its majestic fortress and beautiful expanse of golden, sandy beach and is only 11 miles east. The elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed, and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle, both offer a wide array of amenities around half an hour’s drive away. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! This is England’s Borderland and is often referred to as ’the secret kingdom’. Beach 13 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

A short drive west brings you to the small town of Rothbury.
