This charming terraced cottage is located opposite Manor Park which was once part of Glossop Hall and today is one of the area’s most popular parks with landscaped garden, lake, tennis courts and children’s play area. Families will also enjoy the caverns located around the spa town of Buxton, the mining museum and mines at Matlock, 32 miles, and Cannon Hall Farm at Cawthorne, 22 miles. There are also several show caves around Castleton, 15 miles. For those who prefer all the facilities that a big city has to offer, Manchester is just 15 miles away. Popular attractions in and around the city include Old Trafford, the Trafford Centre, Chill Factor and the Airkix indoor skydiving. National Trust properties are within easy driving distance include Lyme Park which was used as the location for BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, 12 miles, and Chatsworth is 27 miles. The Peak District town of Holmfirth, 13 miles, used as the setting for TVs ‘Last of the summer Wine’ and ‘Where the Heart is’ is also worth a visit. This delightfully situated, semi-detached, single-storey, holiday cottage has been renovated to a very good standard and is located within the national scenic area between Dumfries and Annan. The cottage is near Caerlaverock Castle and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The county towns of Dumfries and Annan are a short drive away providing a wide range of shops and places of interest. The cottage makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful area either by car, cycle or on foot, and the Mabie Forest mountain bike tracks are close by, whilst the scenic Caerlaverock Estate has a network of paths to enjoy close by. Close to excellent salmon fishing on the River Nith and wildfowling on the National Nature Reserve. There are several excellent golf courses in the area including the championship course at Southerness. There are wonderful views over the Solway Coast towards the Lake District.

This detached barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home, is located just outside the lovely conservation village of Fordyce, 1½ miles from the Moray coast. A magical place, the village is a warren of narrow streets and beautiful houses still following a medieval plan, and all wrapped around a magnificent centrepiece, Fordyce Castle, simply sitting on a bend in the village street. The holiday cottage is very spacious, comfortable and warm, and takes advantage of the panoramic views of both sea and countryside, with the arched French doors in the living room leading to a sunny sitting-out area at the front. Set within 1 acre of private grounds with dedicated guest outside area with garden furniture and BBQ available.

Fordyce also offers an attractive park opposite the old kirkyard as well as a Victorian garden. The sandy beach at Sandend is a quick drive or a 45-minute walk from the cottage, where local fish can be bought and surfers enjoy the waves. Good coastal walks abound through the old fishing villages of Portsoy and Cullen, or alternatively travel inland through castle and whisky country. There are plenty of golf courses in the vicinity, and the variety of bird and wildlife both onshore and off will please the keen nature lover. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
