The location is perfect and both cottages are delightful, the ideal location for that ’get away from it all’ break. The Cottage at 1710 complements 1710 perfectly. Set in a peaceful hamlet, The Cottage at 1710 has been completely refurbished and modernised in 2018 and retains much of its character. While staying at the cottage see if you can find the window in the window! Picture postcard perfect 1710 is a character cottage in every sense of the word and has been renovated to provide comfortable, cosy accommodation. The properties will also be decorated should you be arriving during the festive period.

Greenwell is an idyllic and sleepy little hamlet yet only a few minutes’ drive from Brampton with its many good restaurants and pubs. From your doorstep, take a walk to the delightful small villages of Castle Carrock and Talkin and enjoy a well-earned meal or drink in the local pubs.
Explore Talkin Tarn Country Park, an 180 acre park close by offering a wide range of activities for all the family including walking, fishing, rowing or bird watching. For those keen on discovering our heritage, then Hadrian’s Wall is a must. The cottages are also centrally located to visit Carlisle, the Lake District, Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Perfect. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Solway Marsh view is a delightful rural cottage attached to the owner’s farmhouse, yet is completely private. It boasts a cosy sitting room with a lovely wood burner, a spacious kitchen/dining room perfect for enjoying a home cooked meal in after a day spent exploring. Upstairs is a spacious master bedroom, a twin room with custom made bunk beds and a modern bathroom. Outside, Solway Marsh View has a secluded garden with the most delightful views over the River Eden onto the Lake District fells.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this lovely riverside cottage provides a comfortable, warm and cosy stay for people looking for a countryside retreat to relax and unwind in. From the garden you can walk out of the garden gate and straight onto the river side with access to walks not publicly available. Or take a 15-minute walk to the village pub which serves delicious food!
The Lake District, Solway Coast, historic Carlisle and the Scottish Borders with Gretna Green are within easy reach, and Carlisle train station is 15 minutes away. There are lots of beautiful walks on the doorstep, including Hadrian’s Wall a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can explore the history of the wall and its dramatic landscape at over 20 fascinating sites, as well as the coastal path (routes and directions can be provided). Due to its location on the banks of the River Eden and Solway Firth, it is a birdwatchers’ and animal enthusiasts’ paradise. From the garden or your bed you will both see and hear ducks, geese, swans and many other breeds of birds flying up and down the river onto the Solway Firth. Whilst you have the tranquillity at the property you are only minutes by car from the M6 thereby ideally placed to enjoy one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. From here you can not only enjoy the beauty of this area but also a quick drive will take you over the border into Scotland with its miles of dramatic coastline.
Whilst staying at Solway Marsh View explore the many delights of Cumbria, a must is a visit is the beauty of the Lake District National Park with its stunning mountains and lakes. Close by, of course, is the beautiful border city of Carlisle with its 12th-century cathedral and 11th-century castle, it’s a lovely city to explore and of course, great for a spot of retail therapy. Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are two semi-detached barn conversions having been beautifully refurbished in 2023. They nestle in the stunning Cumbrian countryside and are flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors. Both have been tastefully renovated and offer all the necessities to ensure a memorable stay. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is modern and bright and tastefully decorated, while the bedrooms boast sumptuous beds and crisp linen. The master bedroom has an en-suite and there is a modern and sleek family bathroom as well.
Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are set amongst the rolling Cumbrian countryside on a quiet country lane, yet are only a short drive from the market towns of both Brampton and Longtown where you will find a variety of shops, cafés and pubs. Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles.
