Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married. A picture postcard village with a small stream running down to a picnic area. Here you can feed the ducks and watch the swans and other wildlife.
The farmer’s hens roam freely around the village which gives that feeling of really being in the countryside and amongst the farming community. The house is in a quiet area next to the church and benefits from a large enclosed garden with woodland areas and lots of space for the children to run and play. There’s a Wendy house and a summer house that serve as a getaway for the kids, with game consoles and a TV. The main house has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with wonderful large windows that overlook the garden. The property benefits from having 3 bathrooms.
On the first floor there is a mezzanine area that leads to two further bedrooms that are linked by an open plan passage way with a bathroom, perfect for a family to have their own floor and have the children close by.
The seaside resort of Scarborough is just 8 miles away and is a traditional resort with two large beaches and plenty for all age groups to do.
Lawnswood is just two miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where there are fantastic walks and trails that lead up to the Dalby Forest. The forest is famous for its bike trails and in the past has been home to the World Championship Mountain Bike event. The visitor centre within the forest is popular all year round with its great café and the events that are organised for the children throughout the year. It’s also home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes adventure course with zip wires and swings.
Lawnswood is a perfect base to visit the Yorkshire Wolds, the North York Moors and the East Coast. Beach 9 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub 2 miles, restaurant 1 mile.

A luxury barn conversion makes a great base to visit the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors National Park, Dolby Forest, the Yorkshire Wolds, Cleveland Way and nearby popular Market Towns. The owner has created a well equipped holiday ‘home’ with very high standard décor and furnishings. It is situated in the pretty village of Seamer, just 4 miles from the seaside town of Scarborough. The village has local pubs that serve traditional pub food and fine dining. There’s a small supermarket and post office as well as a fish and chip shop, all within walking distance. Lovely garden centre approx 1 mile.
Aysgarth Lodge has a large, enclosed garden, perfect for the dog or the children. There is a lawned area as well as patio with a wonderful hot tub to relax in after a busy day visiting the coast. The open plan kitchen/living area has a contemporary feel and features a cosy wood burner in the corner.
There are plenty of beaches to choose from Scarborough North and South Bays, Cayton Bay, Filey, Hunmanby, Reightons and slightly further Flamborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Visit Scarborough’s historic Castle, Rotunda Museum, Sealife Centre or Peasholm Park. Enjoy fun filled family time at Scarborough Waterpark Alpamare, or relax in their luxury Wellness Spa above with its fantastic sauna overlooking the sea. For those of you who enjoy bird watching there’s the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs where you can view thousands of migrating seabirds from the cliff top viewing points. People travel from all over to watch the comical puffins. The cyclists amongst you can enjoy some of the routes from the Tour de Yorkshire, as well as the wonderful Dalby Forest, home to miles and miles of mountain bike tracks. With over 8,000 acres of woodland pathways there’s plenty of woodland walks to enjoy, as well as the Cleveland Way. Aysgarth Lodge provides an excellent base to enjoy a golf tour of the North East Coast or play in the historic Scarborough golf week.
Yorkshire is famous for its market towns, Pickering, Malton, Beverley and Driffield are all a short drive from Aysgarth Lodge. In the village you will find a supermarket, post office, traditional pub, bistro pub, fish and chip shop and a church 100-400 yards. There is a garden centre. 10-15 minute flat walk which has a lovely café. Supermarket and fast food outlets within a 5 minute drive, all in the same place. You should not be disappointed with your stay as there’s something for all age groups and tastes. Beach 4½ miles. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
