Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow are all easily accessible for day trips. What are you waiting for?

The historic city of Perth is just a 10-minute drive away, where you can enjoy an evening at the theatre or the award-winning concert hall or you could visit one of the fine eateries, cafes, bars and shops. Scone Palace, 11 miles, where the Kings of Scotland were crowned, provides an enjoyable day out. There are several whisky distilleries in the area offering tours and tastings.

A little further afield, but still within easy driving distance, guests will be able to enjoy a day trip to the magnificent Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. What a lovely cottage! Within the grounds of the owner’s property, but completely detached and private, this delightful cottage, accessed by a rough track, has stunning expansive views over the fields and hills of rural Perthshire, yet is just a mile or so out of the village of Methven. Inside, the cottage has been lovingly furnished with calming colour schemes. The living room has comfy sofas and a soothing atmosphere and opens up onto the sun room at the rear, which leads to a private patio and hot tub, perfect for an evening soak in peaceful surroundings. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with everything you need to cook up a lovely meal, and upstairs the main bedroom has a quirky element with a shower cubicle also in the room. There is a separate bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs. Outside, the pretty garden gives way to horse paddocks, and beyond are the rolling fields of the surrounding farm.Please note in September, the grain dryer in the adjoining barn can run for long hours.
This is great place to enjoy a varied holiday in the wonderful county of Perthshire. There is easy access to the fair city of Perth itself, with its wide selection of boutique shops, artisan cafés and restaurants. Culture lovers can take in a show at the renowned HorseCross in the centre of Perth, or in the more traditional Perth Theatre. Other recreational facilities include swimming, skating and cinema, as well as plenty of golf in the surrounding area. For golfers, Gleneagles is an easy drive.
The popular town of Crieff is a short drive away, with the Glenturret Distillery well worth a visit, or visit Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre in Comrie, a great place for children and adults alike to interact with native and foreign species amongst wonderful scenery. The cottage is on the border between Perthshire and Fife where golfers are spoilt for choice with Kings Barns and Carnoustie easily reached, and half way between St. Andrews and Glen Eagles. Gardeners’ cottage is a unique property comprising of three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin with an ample shower room on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a sunroom looking onto the enclosed private walled garden, a utility with toilet, the kitchen dining space is well-equipped and lighting can be adjusted to suit the mood.
The living room has a baby grand piano, record player and a wood burner, which makes it ideal for relaxing with friends and family or just reading a book in a tranquil setting. During the summer the walled garden is a treat to behold, there is a seating area and is an enclosed space for dogs and children. There is a spacious lawn to the front of the which is not enclosed so pets or young children will need to be supervised. If you need to work while staying at the cottage there is high speed fibre broadband which has recently been installed.
Located six miles from the historic city of Perth, Gardeners Cottage offers a rural location with forest walks and cycle rides on the doorstep. Also, the lochs and river Tay network provide plenty of opportunities for water sports such as wild swimming, canoeing, white water rafting and stand up paddle boarding.
Perthshire has many award-winning restaurants, including two that have Michelin stars. There are many artisanal food producers, and there is also a vibrant arts scene including Perth Concert Hall, Perth Theatre, Scone Palace and Birnam Arts Centre and Perthshire Creates to name a few.
