The historic market town of Richmond is just a short drive with its Norman castle, Georgian theatre and quaint cobbled streets, surrounded by a good selection of tea rooms, gift shops and convenience stores. From here you can enjoy a riverside walk to Easby Abbey which lies in picturesque surroundings by the River Swale. Easby is one of the best preserved monasteries of the Premonstratensian ’White Canons’, with the magnificent refectory, gatehouse and canons’ dormitory remaining. The parish church within the precinct, which is still in use, contains rare 13th century wall paintings.

Travel just 7 miles to the west and you will arrive in the popular market town of Leyburn where a buzzing market lines the streets every Friday with stallholders selling a wide array of produce and wares. Leyburn is well served by a good range of traditional shops and amenities. The green rolling hills of Wensleydale lie to the west of Leyburn with many historic, inspiring landmarks. Just 2 miles from Leyburn is Middleham, famous for its castle that was home to Richard III, and has a wonderful racehorse presence. As well as the Dales, you are just a half hour drive away from the North York Moors National Park with attractions such as Sutton Bank, where you can take in the breathtaking views back across the national park or spend your day strolling around the market towns of Thirsk, Bedale and Northallerton. The Lake District can be reached in just over an hour. Beach 27 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Corner House is situated opposite a very popular pub and beautiful St Andrews Church (known as ’the cathedral of the Dale’) in the pretty village of Grinton, Swaledale. This charming, double fronted, semi-detached stone cottage, with traditional features such as beamed ceilings and period fireplaces, offers home from home comforts of modern day living. It has an entrance porch with space for coats, walking boots, walking sticks and umbrellas, as well as room to dry the dog!

The comfortable sitting room, with its multi fuel stove makes a perfect place in which to unwind after a day of exploring. Two picture windows take in amazing views of the church on one side and Fremington Edge on the other. There is a 32", Freesat Smart TV, and a DVD player to provide additional entertainment.

To the front of the house is a pretty enclosed garden, which is a perfect place to sit out with your morning coffee or rest at the end of the day and watch the sun go down. A stream behind the house runs down to the River Swale, about 200 yards away, giving opportunities for riverside walks along part of the Coast to Coast path. The cottage offers wonderful views with the countryside of Swaledale right on your doorstep with walks to suit ramblers and strollers alike. Within easy walking distance is Reeth, which is set around a village green surrounded by cafés, pubs, restaurants, craft and gift shops.

Swaledale is a popular destination for cyclists, following from the Tour de France Grand Depart and the annual Tour de Yorkshire. 2019 sees the cyclists taking part in the World Championships passing through Grinton, the route taking them past Corner House. A short walk along the road takes you to the Dales Bike Centre offering cycle hire, and a must stop is the on-site coffee shop serving excellent cakes and hot drinks.

For food and drink you will be spoilt for choice. The village pub is a 15th-century former coaching house, which overlooks the River Swale and is a popular stopping off point for walkers and cyclists. It is a 50 yards stroll from the cottage and serves good food and local ales. The village of Reeth is a short distance either by foot or car, and has a variety of pubs also serving good food.

The charming town of Richmond with its Norman castle, cobbled market place and Georgian Theatre is within easy reach, as are Easby Abbey, Aysgarth Falls, Bowes Museum, Semerwater and Hardraw Force. Each year the beautiful Yorkshire Dales form the backdrop for a fantastic range of festivals, galas, agricultural shows and large scale events. Whether it’s music, arts, books, walking or even scarecrows, there will be a festival for you. The Coach House is a beautiful Grade II listed town house set within a pretty walled courtyard in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park between Reeth and Grinton. This is a spacious property perfect for a family gathering or group of friends. On the first floor the bedrooms are styled with beautiful feature beds and fabulous crisp cotton bed linen and throws. The property sleeps eight people with a kingsize bedroom with gorgeous mahogany bed and en-suite shower room, a double bedroom with window seat and two spacious and comfortable twin rooms. A family bathroom completes this floor, fully tiled with a spacious corner shower cubicle and fabulous roll-top bath, pour the bubbles, lie back and take in the view of the rolling countryside. To the rear of the property, accessed externally by several steps, there is a small lawned walled garden, south west facing it’s the perfect spot to sit on a summer’s evening and enjoy a glass of wine or fire up the BBQ as the sun goes down over the hills.
Fremington is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in Swaledale, surrounded by beautiful countryside and plentiful walks right from the doorstep, being well placed for the Coast to Coast, Pennine Way, Corpse Way and the Inn Way trail walks. A short stroll into Grinton takes you to the local pub overlooking the River Swale, it has a lovely sun trap outside to enjoy a cool drink on a summers’ day or sit around the fire with a local ale and some good wholesome food on a winters night! Reeth is just over a mile away and a pleasant walk, the village has two village stores, selection of tea rooms, pubs, restaurant and gift shops. Further attractions can be found in the market towns of Leyburn, 8 miles, set around a market square with an array of eclectic shops, award winning delicatessen and wine merchant. Historic Richmond is a short drive away and famous for its Norman castle, Victorian theatre and beautiful riverside walks. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
