    West Fells Cottage is situated in the village of Rowrah which is located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park between Cockermouth and Ennerdale. In less than 2 miles you’ll reach the National Park where you have an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. It offers easy access to explore the Western Lake District and coast, and has a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water which is less than 4 miles away. Ennerdale is widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District National Park, and thanks to this it is teaming with wildlife including indigenous red squirrels, ospreys and buzzards. If that’s not enough, Loweswater is less than 6 miles away which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere. The scenery around this unspoilt part of the Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are a sight to behold. Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk or a serious climb, you’ve got a great base to start your adventures.

    Rowrah is home to a very popular go karting track, ¾ mile, one of the best in the UK if you want an adrenaline boost. You’ve also got good access to a number of coastal towns including Whitehaven, 7 miles, with good restaurants, a popular harbour and good shopping. You’re less than 10 miles from St Bees Head Heritage Coast, offering excellent coastal walks and golden sandy beaches. Of course if you’re looking for a traditional Cumbrian market town, you’ll love Cockermouth, 9 miles, with an abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants and attractions. If you like outdoor adventure, including walking, cycling and climbing, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and you are only a 10-mile drive from the Lake District National Park, your nearest lake is Ennerdale which is regarded as one of the most unspoilt and natural parts of the Lake District. It is teaming with wildlife including buzzards, red squirrels and osprey to name a few. If you want to climb the highest mountain in England you can reach Wasdale Head in just 18 miles, which gives you the shortest route to the summit of Scafell Pike. Or why not take a trip on the La’al Ratty which is a miniature steam railway along the South West Coast. For golfers, St Bees offers an excellent 9-hole links course. Beach ¾ mile.
